iPhone on Orange Contract

Hi all,
I have a contract with Orange for Iphone 3gs. I pay in total inc VAT around £50pm. I have a deal which I never reach the limits, I hardly ever call and mostly use txt/internet. There is no need for such a contract I have really.
I've called up and reduced it to the package below but apparently they can only do this once.
I have this contract until 22nd April. The coverage I get with Orange is pretty dire, at my place of work it's virtually non existant.
Is there anything I can do apart from buy my way out of the contract to be set free?

Try citing the on-going fault with BT Openzone that affects all Orange iPhone users.Pressleyno1 wrote: »Is there anything I can do apart from buy my way out of the contract to be set free?0 -

AFAIK, it's not just once, but only to the next cheaper tariff as well.Pressleyno1 wrote: »I've called up and reduced it to the package below but apparently they can only do this once.
You could have checked this before buying the contract.I have this contract until 22nd April. The coverage I get with Orange is pretty dire, at my place of work it's virtually non existant.
Generally, not.Is there anything I can do apart from buy my way out of the contract to be set free?
He means using this as a lever for negotiating a bigger downgrading.Pressleyno1 wrote: »What do you mean?0 -
I mean you can cite this long-term fault as a breach of contract by Orange. They are not providing you with the advertised service.Pressleyno1 wrote: »What do you mean?0 -
Actually, this is irrelevant as the Openreach service is provided as a benefit, and can be withdrawn at any time, it forms no basis to repudiate the primary contract. You would need the Orange network to be down over your local area for this to be valid. Discovering that you have a carp signal around your home doesn't work, as they do not give service level guarantees on coverage, and never have done. As you have already downgraded, you've actively done all you can, and when your minimum term is complete, remember to give 30 days notice of cancellation so you can walk at the earliest date your calendar tells you. Then you'll remember not to be tied down to anything similar!0

I assume you mean BT Openzone. Openreach is a wholesale department of BT and nothing to do with this.Actually, this is irrelevant as the Openreach service is provided as a benefit, and can be withdrawn at any time, it forms no basis to repudiate the primary contract.
In any case, you're totally wrong. Orange advertises BT Openzone as an inclusive component of its iPhone tariffs. The provision of BT Openzone access therefore forms part of the contract governed by the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. This component cannot be withdrawn at any time.0 -
For sure, lesson learnt here, no more 24mnt contracts. Is there any decent PAYG kicking about these days?Feb 06 *****Highest Debt*****
