We are currently experiencing a higher demand than usual for our website. If you are unable to access the pages you require at the moment, please try again later.
If you have a query about your council tax band, please contact your local Valuation Office, where staff will be able to answer your questions. Contact details can be found in the telephone directory under 'Valuation Office Agency' or 'Valuation Office' (for England and Wales).
Taxpayers with enquiries about properties in Scotland should contact the Scottish Assessors.0

How do you measure whether your banding is fair? This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. (SHAKESPEARE, Hamlet, 1600) :kisses2:

I recently suggested that Martin should be considered for a knighthood, his reply to that was........perhaps the banks would raise an objection,:rotfl: :rotfl: hehehe, now I think he may have upset councils in every region in he country and the government will be in shock :rotfl: :rotfl: POWER TO THE PEOPLE XXXXX This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. Well good !! If people have been overcharged they have a right to do somthing about it. If things had been done right in the first place they would not be in this situation.(I really do feel for these people who work in these depts though.)
Our council Tax band is too high. When I looked a few months ago about getting it re-valued it said somthing about if you had moved there over 6 mths ago there was nothing you could do about it??? Maybe got the wrong end of the stick but as we are moving I am not pushing it. Our new house is awaiting a re-valuation as it had an extension on it!! But still it should not go up a band. If they try it I will object.0

Are you in scotland by any chance?
There is a strict timescale for appeals against banding here, it's different to England, iirc it's 6 months from date of purchase or from when it was assesed. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Last night on the telly Martin said you can check your band and for instance your neighbours banding. If they are a different band to you but the house is basically the same then you have a bit of power to appeal.
He did also say that when they revalue it can just as easily go up as well as down!! So any action taken from the valuation is down to you

There was also a link to a house valuation thing. Put in your house value and click on a date and it would give a guide of what it would have been worth on that date - Ist quater of 1991 or whatever.
Follow the link from the main article. Thats how I found it all.
Not in Scotland but perhaps I read the scottish one?????0

Damn https://www.voa.gov.uk is still down. And I wouldn't be surprised if my house is a band lower than it currently is.**********************************************************************
