How to retrieve photos from a pc with no graphics card

What other PCs do you have available?
Most PCs have one or more slots for secondary HDDs to be mounted internally. If you have a PC with a spare slot, you don't need the caddy.
Take HDD from old machine, open up new machine, insert HDD.
The only hiccup is if the types of HDD don't match between machines - SATA in one, HDD in other - but you can get adaptors from Maplin and other computing suppliers.0 -
You can just connect hdd to another pc by disconnecting and using the dvd/cd connector cables in the 2nd pc - if they are the right ones.
An ide cable , flat, 5cm wide, can connect to 2 devices.
Or use cables from your pc if there's a spare motherboard connector in the 2nd pc0 -
I only have a laptop that I bought about 6 weeks ago so I can't fit it as a secondary drive.
It is a Samsung SpinPoint P 120GB 8MB SP1213C SATA.
In this case; 3.5 SATA TO USB HD Hard Disk Drive Enclosure £10.20 inc delivery.
20p more for the version in silver
Play have one for £9.99(but read the reviews).0 -
Can you just not take the duff gfx card out, and plug the monitor into the normal vga output of the motherboard's onboard graphics ?????????......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

I probably could if I knew what you were on about!! Thanks.
I've ordered a caddy - seems the simplest option.
Thanks to everybody for your help and advice :beer:0 -

pretty much ALL pc motherboards have graphics capabilities built in to the main board (or motherboard, or mobo) in the same way the sound chips are on there too. Look at the back of your pc - the monitor connection from your graphics card ( or gfx card) will be towards the bottom of the case. Further up, probably just above the USB ports, should be a normal VGA (D-sub) port, which is fed from the mobo gfx chip, NOT the gfx card... so, take the graphics card out of the pc, connect your monitor to that VGA port, and bob's yer mother's brother
I'll try and find you a picture

if you leave the graphics card in the pc, it bypasses the onboard graphics, hence why I said to remove it......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
