I was looking at this and the guy in B&Q pointed out that the chuck capacity was not as big as usual - despite the description, It looked smaller than 13mm. Hitachi's need 2 hands to twist the chuck, and I've been told that Lion is not all that is cracked up to be. Personally, I'm confused - can anyone recommend a good drill for DIY between £100 - £150 ??

Same request here please for a cordless hammer drill not using Nicad??

    TIA

I'd seriously consider the one posted here, guys. Is the chuck capacity really that big an issue? And Li-Ions are a huge improvement on NiCads.

I'm maybe biased - I bought one of these at £95 and it's excellent. I could be wrong, of course. At £85 it's a steal.

Only if it's of use - Chuck capacity is a problem - I remember the bad old days when all drills had smaller capacity chucks - a real pain!

Yes £85 is good, but £15 pounds more opens up a lot more options. Are Lion really that good?

Yes Li-ion are that good in essence:
-they hold a charge when in storage (meaning they have power when you pull them out the shed)
    -they are much lighter
-they hold a full charge through the lifetime of the battery (you dont end up with a battery that gives you 10mins of power)
-It doesnt affect the life of battery if you charge when not totally empty
    -they have a longer life

All in all go for a Li-ion

    I was told that

    - Whilst they hold charge in storage, if left too long, they discharge and you can never charge them again.

    - Performance is lost if you use them in the cold

    - They can be a fire risk - don't know how??

    - they are nor fully developed yet

I appreciate tat Ni-cads are a pain, but is it a case of better the devil you know?? I'm confused

This drill is now down to £85 until the 5th instore and online (Don't forget quidco)

    Accessory pack £15

I know very little about drills and am a total girl with things like this but the research I have done has shown this to be good value and the reviews are excellent. OH will have such an exciting Christmas now!!

Is this in B&Q ? Still showing as £95 for me

Yeh maybe, for fire risk I guess we could consult Apple (look for free ipod now on grabbit forum :).

Remember ALL mobile phones, MP3's and electrical goods use Li-ion so they cant be that primitive!

I got this one from B&Q a few months ago when it was on offer at £69, and they also had a 15% off weekend (via voucher), so £95 seems a bit high.

It was £85 until the 5th. It has now gone back up to £95 which is still a third off it's supposed RRP for B&Q.
