Can I upgrade to sky+ myself

I have basic sky in my bedroom and would like to upgrade it to sky+ or even sky+HD

Is this something I can do myself or is that against sky rules?

I can get a sky+ or sky+HD box from a relative but would need to change the cable from the dish.

Any advice on what I need to do, (if I can) would be great

thanks

You will need a twin feed from the LNB to record one channel and watch another. You then just need to pair your viewing card with the new box by calling Sky.
A new LNB may be required, but this is not expensive or difficult.

So it is allowed by sky then?

Yes it is allowed but it will be treated as a new sky contract. Had a terrible time trying to cancel sky because we did this. Even though we didn't have to pay anything and sky didn't provide anything extra we were tied into a new 12 month contract.

But all you have to do is phone Sky and have the card paired-this does not constitute a new contract unless Sky have provided the box and see that as the trade off. Sky+ is inclusive on any Sky contract-all you need is the hardware.
