Ohhhhhhhhhhh. Are you talking about the Child Trust Fund? In which the government gave you a £250 voucher to start an investment fund for your child?
If so, this was cancelled in January this year. You won't get it.
No its the "ONE OFF" payment of Child Tax i'm talking about. It's not really back dated it's a "One Off" They said it was the child element of it paid upfront. ( Twins are not even 3 weeks old ) CTC said the payment of £250 was the child element part of it and Everyone gets it when they phone as a lump sum.
I know about the trust fund as had it before but it was £250 x 2 vouchers. not just one voucher. You got one and then got another about 1 year later. Mine went in to shares and they are worth £200 less *_*0 -
The lump sum isn't backdated is it?
My twins were born on Wednesday. I phoned Thursday ( Day After ) I then got £250, They said it is the Child Element part they pay you as she detailed it all as i wasn't sure £250 for one day was a true value to give me.
Yes the Child Tax Credits can be backdated 3 months. If you are awarded Child Tax Credit at a rate higher than the family element (or with a disability element or are on means-tested benefit) and you have no other children under 16 years in your family then you can apply for a Sure Start Maternity Grant. You must claim within 3 months of having you twins. You can get £500 per child is eligible. 1 month to appeal.Don't thank me, thank my post :T

No you don't get it. Your talking about something different. Tax credits give Lump Sum no matter what *_*
Look i never waited 3 months nor did i get it back dated. I changed claim the day after,
Twins born 26/10
Phoned CTC 27/10
2/11 - £250 in ban ( LUMP SUM )
7/11 CTC for twins starts being paid
So as you can see the money and dates doesn't add up. I told CTC this and they replied with you and EVERYONE gets a lump sum. The LUMP SUM is based on the Child Element and isn't part of the usual payments you get weekly, It's a one off.
@Karenx he said "My wife does not work." He also says HouseHold income and lives with parents so i assume he is including his parents in the 40K for some bizzare reason.0 -
I didnt get a lump sum from CTC when i applied. Would i have to ring?0

hayton2k3 - there genuinely is no such thing as the lump sum you are describing. Somehow, between you, the adviser you spoke to and the posters on here, there is confusion about terminology. What you got, we believe you got, it's just not what you think it was, because what you think it was doesn't exist. Between you and the adviser, there has been a bit of Chinese whispers/misunderstanding of terms used going on.0

Perhaps what Hayden is referring to is the 'one off' or 'balancing' payment that is typically generated when a change of circumstances is added to a claim during the course of the tax year.
You would only get this is you have a current claim and all it does it settles your payments for the remainder of the year.
Could this be it Hayden? What are your normal weekly payments from tax credits?0
