    Hi,
we´re having a bit of a get together outside (we are in Spain so the weather will be cool but dry) just after Christmas for about 12 people. So this morning I started to think about a cheap and cheerful, warm pudding, hence rice pudding as I will have the oven on for baked potatoes and wedges.

Have you any thoughts on making it more christmassy, flavourful or different? I thought about adding mincemeat, but OH turned his nose up at that.

Normally I make it in a deep dish, but this time I thought I might use a large shallow about 2 in deep pyrex dish

    Thanks

    Sandy

There was a nice recipe featured on Mums know best at Christmas (Hairy Bikers) last week. I'm sorry I can't find it on their site but it was the Danish lady, Karina who made it. Maybe someone else can find it for you? (They also do a plum compote with rice recipe if that's any help)
    Have a great Christmas :)

While we wait for more knowledgeable people, there's bound to be vinegar involved, so I'd pour some into a bowl and leave it in the kitchen, it won't end up smelling like a chip shop, honest, and even if it does that's got to be better than burnt egg!

    The sticky residue is Sellotape.

I am ignoring it for now! :rotfl:

    Thanks for the replies

Sorry this is a bit late - you could use nail varnish remover pads. It's what I use when I run out of Lakeland sticky stuff remover!

Try leaving a cut onion in the smelly room. It works with paint smells. Throw the onion away after! It absorbs whatever is in the atmosphere that's why you shouldn't use a cut onion that's been left in the fridge.Hope it helps.

Hi, been having another think! How about dried fruits soaked in Earl Gray tea overnight, then served or mixed with the rice? I've done it with a cinnamon stick added to the hot tea then served with yogurt for breakfast on Boxing day when you don't want anything too heavy.

That's a bit of an old wives' tale and not true.

Got a Christmas Pud leftover from last year (think I bought it after Christmas!) It's the Tesco Finest with an orange in the middle. Out of Date September 2012 - OK for Christmas dinner this year?
