Talk Talk True Connection Speed- Whats Yours?

When most of us signed up to Talk Talk we were told we could get download speeds of up to 8 megabites, this did indeed depend upon the proximity of our address to a suitably equipped exchange.
However almost every person that I have spoken to with a Talk Talk Broadband Account only receive an average of 2mb or less.
Out of interest at this stage, if you are a talk talk customer, what broadband speed do you attain?
I would very much like to know if 8mb's exists for anyone or is it simply a sales myth?

Heres a link to speed test site but there are others available.
I look forward to the results.
My speed at present is 1.695 mb

Definitely more than 8Mb. Normally approaches 12.5Mb. Sometimes I get 'surges' that raise the speed beyond this.
I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but when odd things like this happen I like to find an explanation for this. Neither BT nor TalkTalk can, or were willing to answer. Despite sending them screenshots and breakdowns of my calculations and those by speed testers, lol
Ah well, why complain?Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -

You have said this before but have never bothered to prove your claims when asked here!
Would you show your faster speed by doing a speedtest here and using the Share your results and post the forum link on here in your reply?
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I get just under 1 meg! Used to get around 2 before I joined Talk Talk broadband, and now find speeds stay around 1 meg or so! Result below:
Whats your distance from BT exchange out of interest? Mine is 1.85km. Would be interesting to see what others are in relation to speed to see if it is true about distance.
Having said that tough, I dont usually have a problem with connection ie dropping out or time taken to turn page etc.0 -
At the moment mine is 3.6 megs (using wireless connection), average since being LLU'd about 4 meg, have been as high as 6 megs. I'm 1.5km straight line distance from exchange.
Have suffered from lower speeds and been timed out a couple of times.
Overall reasonably happy with the service.0 -

see the rusult (my old speed in post #9). Complained to talktalk and asked to send me a final statement for settlement (before end of term ) and I clearly specified that this decision is based their poor connection speed.
They responded me that my line is capable of getting upto 2 Mbit and they have re-provisioned this.0
