They NEVER have any stock in any shops or online when there is a good offer on! The day after the offer ends the shelves are full of the item! False advertising I'd say?

Or bad stock control.
Sommerfield used to be very bad for that. You could always quickly find the good offers - just look for the empty shelves. And the moment the offer ended the shelves would be full, again.
I think that in many cases they come to an agreement with the supplier for so many products to sell at the reduced price and once that amount is gone they will not get any more for said price.
It's very amateurish marketing, though, as not being able to get an offer or, not being able to by the product at all (in the case of day to day supermarket items), p***es off more people than you have pleased with the cheap deal. Tesco, for example, currently have an offer on 'finest' scones and are thus sold out by 11am. So we didn't get our weekly treat this week. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
This may help locate the nearest shop, and there is an option to e-mail if it comes in stock within a week

same ploy focus used to pull. they had the OAP discount day on a tuesday, but for some unknown reason a lot of higher priced items used to vanish on a tuesday but materialise on a wed each week0

I've always found the offers I'm interested in in stock in at least one of the three argos stores nearest me.0

I found this when buying a laptop. The one I wanted was on offer. I live in London, and no London stores had them. I went to St Albans just to get it!0

if you look at the times of a lot of the Argos offers is when they bring out new catalogue, so the offers are usually stock from the old catalogue that they do not list in new catalogue, so this will be limited stock as what ever the stores and distribution centres have available0

Also it could be that the offer is so good that people beat you to it, shops aren't like the tardis you know, there's a finite about of space for stock meaning those who are fastest get them.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

this is true
Aldi, Lidl have such things where they will maybe have a PC or TV at a silly low price, but each store may only get 6 of these each, so the first 6 customers at 9am purchase these, si if you go to the store at 11am they are sold out would you expect them to pull one of these out of thin air because you want one. read ads and it will always state *while stocks last*0 -
I thought it was just me! Their Value clock for a fiver with the silver facade - literally never been in stock since a month after the Autumn/Winter catalogue was released and I've searched several branches online, I've given up, if I still want one I'll head to a supermarket.0

I have noticed that some ebay sellers are reserving stock when it's on offer and then selling the reservation number! This weekend there are loads of vtech innotab reservation numbers for sale..... so that might account for some stuff not being in stock (Argos have been made aware of it BTW). Unscrupulous people taking advantage!0
