Help - Cold callers driving me mad!

  • That is true, I used to do outbound telesales for a very large telecomm's company(you know the one!!) and if we heard a fax it was marked "do not call"

Rumour has it auto-diallers 'mark' calls answered with such tones as fax machines and don't dial them again. Human cold callers may even do the same.

    Thanks to everyone for replies.

Even if I get the caller ID system, I still have the go to the phone to see whose calling before I decide to pick it up. I was really hoping for some kind of miraculous cure that would kill the marketing calls stone dead, but alas it doesn't seem to exist.

Might look at the fax tone message - good idea, but might confuse my son's school should they be trying to get through!

I did stumble across the box which filters the calls, but thats quite pricey too.

Might just have to learn to live with it!

    Thanks again
  • If you have been with TPS for five years - have you renewed your registration? Registration only last five years!

It may not stop unwanted international calls but it should stop any unawanted UK marketing calls.

Thanks for that. Yes I have checked that I am still on their list!
  • I know it's a pain when they call you but you don't have to speak with them. When I do get a cold caller which is not often, I ask them to hold on while I answer the door and leave the phone off the hook until they get fed up.

Either that or tell them direct to f*#k off and give me peice!

I have just had one of these the caller had a freign voice (no offence menat there) but I could barely recognise my own name the way she pronounced it. Anyway she starts asking me about ny mortgage I have none so who was it with .i never had one so you bought your house for cash them - light bulb moment for me realising I'm answering these personal quetions to a stranger I said goodbye and hung up.

It really is so annoying and must be more so for Werdnal with sick relative.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

From carpet cleaning,to double glazing etc aren't they just using out of date data?Probably sold on to them a few years ago by another pest of a company and someone in their house is just going through the list.

I guess they must be happy to arrange a few call outs a day.
I bet you will never know who they are because of the TPS fine.

I'm with Toucan and has anyone else experienced their indian nagging salesreps. im getting 3 to 4 calls a day, on weekends at 9pm as well. they keep asking for my bank details as they want to put me on a better deal and find it funny that i wont give it to them cos of fraud! when i phone Toucan {again} they say sorry they'll email them to stop. Can take 2 weeks though! i'll have to go elsewhere if it keeps on.cant they offer on the website instead-id be more likely to take it up.

    HI
WE had a spate of them usually on a thursday .Friend told me to let it ring seven times and then it stops it has work for us
I know it's annoying because it could be genuine .
