Well, went into town for Christmas shopping and thought I'd test a few out.

As though and said, really didn't like the interface of the Samsung SG2, felt cheap and the AMOLED made it look cheap too IMO as the graphics are very child-like.

Like the Nexus but again the AMOLED actually put me off.

Tried the XL and really liked it but having read reviews online, it isn't the best speed and graphics wise, plus, I love big screens but that was too big for me.

Checked out the XE at the o2, they opened a new one for me and best they could offer was £32 p/m on o2 600 contract.

Went on a mission to get some price matching locally to the store, Carphone Warehouse had none in stock but the manager said best he could do with o2 was treat as upgrade and it'd be free phone on o2 300 contract but was £27 p/m.

Rang back the o2 shop I'd been in, they kept me on hold for ages but came back saying they could go one better, for £21.50 p/m, they could upgrade me onto o2 200 contract, so 200 mins (I average 160mins), unlimited texts, 500mb data and free phone. So off I went, collected it and costing me less than my broken iPhone 3G lol.gif

    Result! smug.gif

Get to keep same number too!!

Oh god, I'm not sure what to do. I've ordered an XL via Phones4U, not sure if it is what I want as I then went back to C4W and I now think it is huge, I think I'd prefer the XE.

  • hi folks ,thought i'd share something,
anyway been looking for deals past few weeks on sg2 and htc xe and xl eventually after checking online and shops as well as o2 retentions i settled for xl, i thought it was big at first but now not really. if you put a xe or sg2 in a case they are much the same and the best deal i found was a 1 day bargain christmas special at phones4u which im sure maybe worth trying them to see if still do.ordered and got within 2 days.
but got free handset normally £149/199 on o2 tariff 200 x network mins, unlimited texts 500mb data for £21.50 per month this was new xl with beats audio, and after having now for couple days its great.
i also went via quidco got £50 cashback which has been tracked,so not a bad deal i think considering o2 you get free xl when taking out £37/42 per month.
    thanks
  • Got an xl by upgrade, but changing it for the xe. I think it's too big, my small hands find it difficult to grip(too expensive to even think about dropping, same with a friend's sII), also with a multimedia phone like that there's no expandable memory on the xl. I think the xl is more prone to people who do lots of media/internet-like things on their phones, but then I don't understand why they put the 1080p camera in the xe, which has a smaller screen?

Decided to return my XL, it is too large. I carry an iPad so don't need such a large screen. I went to town earlier and I'm not convinced that any of the current crop are that big a step compared to my Desire so I'm going to keep the old girl for a while longer.
