Virgin Media: medium internet package no longer exists?

On checking this month's bill, I had to call Virgin to find out why we'd been charged extra for apparently upping our broadband from Medium to Large. We didn't. They did. The first person I spoke to said that we 'must have called to change it.' The second said that Medium no longer exists, and so they have simply switched us to Large. I am now wondering if the 'best' package they have switched us to is actually good, since it's still higher than what we were paying. Here's what we've been offered:
Line rental: 13.90
Talk int: 1.75
Talk unlimited: 8.00
TV size M 0.00
Broadband L 26.00
Paper bill 1.50
Loyalty Pack -14.00
TOTAL 37.15

Thanks, after reading your question, I rushed to see my VM account! Luckily, my 'M' bb is still there...;). But VM are experience, :mad:0

Thank you, Taz. That confirms my suspicion that they have not got rid of the medium package, and that we have been told lies in order for them to enforce an upgrade. **not happy**0
-
And remember that an upgrade starts you on a new 12m contract with VM.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thank you, Macman. I have received the new contract and have seven days to cancel, so I'm here to ensure that I've been given the right info! I don't want to be tied to a contract if given false info about the Medium BB no longer being available. I'm confused though, because Taz says in another recent thread that he's on the Large broadband. So, maybe the post above was a mistake?0

Demi, don't be confused, because I am on M bb with VM for over 3 years. M and L are the same with 10MB speed, and not missing out on speed.
I have checked this month's bill, and clearly states M bb.
In this post I have put L, as this is the lowest they offer, and (M and L are the same for VM!!!!!)
Demi, from the other post...0 -
Taz, so are you saying that Medium is now Large and that VM gave me accurate info. Sorry, I'm confused..probably because I'm tired!0

M used to be 2meg - it was upgraded free to 10 a few years ago0

L and M have (certainly used to) different traffic management profiles, even though they are the same speed.

Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Demi,
Tiexen and Spud17 are right.
On my VM account I have M - L - XL - XXL.
M and L are the same speed, no difference.
But on your VM account it may be L - XL - XXL.
I haven't upgraded my bb, and why have they upgraded yours without your permission? If not, then make a complaint to VM.
Any changes to the contract starts a new 12 month contract.0 -
Thank you all. I am so uspet and a little angry that they made these changes without even letting me know. If I hadn't looked at the bill, I wouldn't have even seen this had been done. If M and L are the same speed, I really don't understand how it can be that they can justify charging extra and then sending out a new contract, knocking the price down a little, but not to the price I was paying before they made this change. The first person I spoke to said that I must have called and made the changes. Not true. When I asked to speak to someone else he convinced me that every single customer on Medium had been changed over the Large in February, because 'Medium no longer exists'. He convinced me we were fortunate to have been missed for so long. Now I am thinking I've been misled and that this tactic was used to get me into a new higher priced contract. I fell for it but still have a few days to cancel. :-(0
