Should I appeal?

I applied for a Barclaycard Initial a few weeks ago and received a letter from them saying I had been provisionally accepted but they needed some documents from me. They asked for 2 forms of ID from the list they provided. I sent what they asked for but received a letter today saying I have been declined because my documents don't meet their fraud prevention requirements. I don't understand what they mean by this? I sent what they asked for. The only thing I can think is that the address on my driving licence is my old address. I just moved so I haven't got around to changing it.

Should I appeal the decision? Or is it not worth it?

What did you send other than the driving licence? presumably the licence was for the photo id and you also sent something with your current address for the address ID?

I'd challenge, ask what else you can provide to meet their requirements.

TBH you would have been better making the app before moving.

I sent a recent council tax bill with my current address as well as the photocopy of my licence. I have been doing some research and it appears everybody who is 'provisionally accepted' gets a decline due to fraud prevention once they send their documents. If this happens to everyone, would appealing help anything for me?

This doesn't make any sense. Barclays are not going to waste their time. I think the problem is that you sent in a document with an address which did not correspond to the address given on your application; they wouldn't like that.

was the driving license copy certified?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

No they didn't ask for a certified copy. What difference would it have made though? It still has an old address on.

In reply to the post above, I don't think they would waste their time either. It just seems the same thing has happened to a lot of people. Maybe a lot of people have documents that don't match?

So should I appeal and just explain why the address was different? Or should I just wait and apply in 6 months?

most financial companys request origionals or certified copys, as we all have a good old photo editing software

As far as I know they didn't specify they just said photocopy. Besides, if I had edited it I would have put the correct address on it!

The letter I got didnt say anything about appealing. It just said apply again in 6 months. Can I still appeal?
