The real cost of V+ box

I have just pluged my V+ box into an energy meter, when the box is being used it uses 25 watts, on standby (when the fan has stoped) it uses 21watts.
Now 21watts is equivelent to 2 or 3 modern light bulbs. If this power is used 24/7 and 52 weeks a year, this calculates to 184 kWh per year.
Now 184 kWh will cost £25.70 (unit cost + % of standing charge) based on a very competative EDF energy contract.
I was getting some reception problems with my TV, the engineer from Virgin Media told me that if I switch the V+box off at the wall these problems will continue.
SO! whats the lesser of two evils.
