Im 21 and my Dad still does us his 6 kids stockings, youngest 18 oldest 29, he also has 6 Grandson's (3 were born this year) they also get stocking's, i havnt done one for my son who's 5 as he always get's one off Grandad, my Dad does it old traditional way aswell, he gets proper woman's stockings we get £50 worth of presents in there that we dont know about (we get £100 for Christmas each but get to choose our own presents), humbugs, orange, apple, chocolate coin, yearly diary and callendar, socks. Even though im 21 and have my own child i still look forward to my Stocking every year. Neither my hubby or I had stockings as kids, but when it was my youngest's first Christmas we stayed at my parents along with my brother and his daughter, she had always had a stocking, so we wanted to the keep tradition for her which meant my son got one as well and so it's carried on with both him and my daughter as until last year we always stayed at my Mums! Got to admit I like them having one as they open it upstairs so both hubby and I get chance to wake up properly with a much needed coffee before we go downstairs and the mayhem begins!!~ What's for you, won't go past you! ~0

It's just something that we've always done and I had as a kid when I was growing up.
Same here. We always had stockings, and in fact still do even though I am 37 and my brothers are 48 and 50! So it never even crossed my mind that my kids wouldn't hang up their own stockings for Father Christmas to fill!! :rotfl:0 -
Every family is different

I had a stocking when I was a child and I loved it. On reflection however I have realised my parents gave me one to keep me amused as I was a very early riser (on xmas day only!) and the rule on xmas was that I could not get them up until 8am so the stocking bought them some extra sleeping time :rotfl:
Now I give my daughter a stocking and she loves it.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
