British Gas Homecare, blocked drain Question

Ok. I have British Gas home care which covers gas, electricity and boiler cover, also we have a blocked drain cover.

Now, Npower have called me trying to sell their homecover which is cheaper. They say from October last year Water companies are now responsible for drainage problems, such as blockages so BG are charging me for a service which is not needed.

Is there any truth in this. I do not want to call up BG complaining they are charging me for a service which I do not need when the case may not be true.

Any help here please.
All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.

You should have had a letter from your water company with a diagram explaining exactly what is and what is not covered under the new agreement with the government. For example, I live in a Victorian terraced house and I pay if my drain is blocked between my house and the communal sewer in the street. The water board pay if the communal sewer is blocked. So nothing has changed for me. Give your water board a call they will explain it.

Either way, you do not need this cover.

If the drain is blocked on your property then who will clear it then ?

Its not the water co responsibility if its a private sewer, only where it becomes shared

Clear it yourself, or employ a local contractor. Properly maintained drains will not block.
