Yes I saw that thanks but a couple of things put me off ...

1. It's a bit late, it's 6 months on and I've already registered a certain moving in date / meter reading. Don't want to give them any ammunition for accusing me of fraud (despite the motives being pure and not depriving them of any money).

2. It took over 4 months to get any kind of acknowledgement, let alone bill, that I was a customer (they spent a while telling me they were not even supplying me) with £100s of pounds of debt mounting up and housemates moving out. I don't want to tip their fragile billing system over the edge and be back to square one begging for bills.

But knowing then what I know now, I'd have registered exactly as you suggest. A little white lie which makes the outcome more honest and easier for everyone, BG included.
