The Co-op is the third biggest landowner in the UK after the queen and the state (or was a few years ago) and they have their own farms. This is why they can have British apples - they grow them.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

What a pathetic poster. Seriously, stop replying to other people's posts if you have nothing worthwhile to add.

Don't worry about them, seems they like to comment on threads calling them petty etc I'm yet to see them post a quality thread themselves.
I think those who have nothing better to do than add posts such as 'pathetic' etc are quite sad, if I read a post that doesn't interest me I won't waste my time replying.
It says far more about them than it does you so don't feed the troll.0 -
Go to Sainsburys, they have them.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Country file are a little wrong in some aspects of what they write on that link5. Utilities: water, electricity, railways
500,000 acres
Although it has proved impossible to break down the exact acreage of land owned by the UK's 18 energy, 22 water and 32 rail companies, we estimate the total acreage (think of huge power stations such as Didcot, reservoirs such as Bewl Water and water-treatment works such as the new Thames Barrage site) comes to about half a million acres.
The TOCs own nothing. apart from heritage railways and the like Its Network rail who own the land and buildings that the railway runs upon. So that should be 1 rail company - barring any that BRB still may own."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
In my local Tesco today the shelf price for a special offer cheese was £3.99 for 400gms but the cheese was only in 350gm blocks & the price charged at the checkout was £4.45.
I queried it with a member of staff & received no satisfactory explanation, luckily I had noticed but there will be loads of people who have not!
!
just to confirm....
Tesco had 400g of cheese on offer at £3.99 or their standard priced blocks of 350g at £4.45 yet you wonder why they sold out of the special offer cheese and not the full price cheese?
Lets put it another way:
Farmer Alphonso is selling 10kg turkeys; ready plucked with it's innards ripped out and all ready for cooking, at £5 each. He also has 5kg turkeys; fully feathered complete with insides and it's head hanging off, and he's selling these for £25. Which do you think he'll sell out of first?0 -
