Tesco wrong price & no British eating apples.

In my local Tesco today the shelf price for a special offer cheese was £3.99 for 400gms but the cheese was only in 350gm blocks & the price charged at the checkout was £4.45.
I queried it with a member of staff & received no satisfactory explanation, luckily I had noticed but there will be loads of people who have not!

In the same Tesco I was also unable to find any British grown eating apples which I think is a disgrace particularly at this time of the year.
I wonder why they are not supporting British growers, & it's no excuse to say they can't get them because in the same small town the Co op managed to stock them!

there could be dozens of reasons. low on stock. problem with the supplier that week. not necessarily due to not wanting to support british farmers
Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?

Or perhaps it's not their policy to give a shit about things like this? Tesco strikes me as being motivated by little more than banging out the cheapest stuff they can and if Froggy Granny Smith's are cheaper than our own, then so be it.

Oh no no english apples in tesco, oh what shall we do. Seriously no english apples = not a crisis, in the realm of possibilities there could be various reasons why no english apples, did you ask a member of staff why they didnt have any ? maybe they were due to be replenished.
  • I also hate the fact that Tesco don't sell UK apples, I emailed a month ago and this is the reply I got
"We sell UK produce in season wherever possible. This includes fruit, salad and vegetables. Indeed we pride ourselves on being one of the top retailers in this area and are currently the biggest sellers of British apples, sweetcorn, asparagus and soft fruit. We have around 250 local lines covering all areas of fresh produce, including potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips, swede and broccoli, along with many others.
To meet the high volume of demand from our customers, we occasionally source from other countries to supplement our UK produce."
There are still no UK apples in our Tesco!
