Fake software on Amazon

  • If you paid more than £100 for it (which you surely did, otherwise that should have instantly raised red flags) then section 75 should definitely apply.

There are some versions of photoshop which cost less than £100 for a genuine copy (Photoshop elements is one of these).
Even if it was over £100, S75 still may not apply if the payment was made through a third party payment provider.

How long ago did you buy it?

Was there any other indications that it was fake? Did it activate correctly? Has an authorised third party confirmed it is fake?

This copy looked genuine and went though registration apparently when key entered but subsequent attempts to update gave warning notice from Adobe registration problem so the reg no was given to Adobe who confirmed it was fake but they did not appear to be concerned about it

It couldn't be that the serial is blacklisted could it? Ie either another genuine copy or a pirate has used that serial one or more times or used by a keygen and can not be used again.

Then a section 56 claim would have worked.

    ......how??? Please explain?

Possibly, but only if the OP had specifically told their card issuer that they wanted to make an S56 claim. Unless they did this, I doubt if the credir company would advise someone of it.

    how??? Please explain?
Basically, S56 of the consumer credit act states that if someone enters into a credit agreement as the result of being given false or misleading information (such as stating that the software is genuine when in fact it is not), then the credit agreement is null and void.

Any fake software I've came across has been fairly easy to spot. OP did the software look legit.?

Adobe seem to be well-targetted by pirates, I bought a copy of Flash with pretty much perfect packaging, sereal number cards, paperwork in the box, shrinkwrapped, hologram, tutorial DVD included, etc., but the disc surface was scratched - I called Adobe to ask if I could replace the media, and they said the product key wasn't of the right format. If the disk hadn't been scratched I would seriously never have known.

Needless to say I got very upset with the vendor who had previously assured me it was legit blah blah blah and got refunded. But Adobe didn't want to know.

MS, on the other hand, try to provide a pathway to legal versions, and they also have a piracy team that actively monitor ebay and the likes. Adobe could learn from them.

It was CS3 and the usual price for full product Amazon handles the transaction and you would think they world remove the seller but they do not the credit card co I used said no one would be victim of fraud on line but won't refund me
This third party seller exclusion should be outlawed
  • The worst thing you could do to that company is to report them here: https://reporting.bsa.org/
