Broadband Cashback - new user, same landline?

Hi

O2 are offering 3 months free and £100 cashback on the package I want. £20 a month with o2 mobile, or £25 without. (includes line rental).

Anybody know if I sign up online will the cashback work if the address/landline is the same as previous contract with O2?

I asked O2 but the staff don't have any dealings with cashback couldn't advise.

I might consider another provider without this offer, but there is no way to know until signing up. Just wondered if anyone else who uses cashback sites has done something similar?

I don't see anything on the O2 website about cashback so I'm assuming it is via some site like TopCashBack (currently offering The Basics Broadband with £60.60, All Rounder Broadband £101.00, and The Works Broadband £121.20 Cashback). IMO you should get that cashback so long as it's a new contract regardless of what was on the line at some earlier time.
  • Yes sorry forgot to mention it's via TopCashBack.co.uk. £101 for the All Rounder.

To be honest, there probably isn't a cheaper alternative regardless of the offer when I look around. Most cheaper packages have very low usage limits which are no good for me. I need unlimited - everything is streamed for me these days plus downloading from PS Store, Steam etc used up a tonne.
Plus, I know O2 have reliable connection, unlike many others I hear about. Even more important than usage for me.

So I guess i'll just go with the cashback deal and hopefully it goes through fine.

The landline is the same as there has never been a phone there...just been used purely for internet.

Better sign up soon before that deal ends. £100 back is a lot really, considering it's for doing nothing.

I used to use Quidco then moved over to TopCashBack. I've used both lots of times and everything has either tracked first time or did on follow up. I was with O2 some time ago and they tracked at the wrong value but it corrected itself later in the process. The cashback site mentioned that as happening anyway.

I think my first year with O2 cost £18 it total. I can't comment on current product as they've changed the contracts since I was with them but they certainly used to be excellent. I only left them for cable because the phone line had a fault which 5 callouts didn't fix.
  • Yeah I've been using TCB for a while and made around £300 on there and pretty much everything has went through ok.

I've been using O2 broadband the last couple of years and only had a couple of weeks where it was acing up a little bit. Other than that' it's been spot on.

Besides, there isn't a lot available where I am speed wise. The absolute maximum I can get from any company is 3Meg...which drives me mad but all the nice housing estates in my town are on the outskirts - so you get the best place to live but the worst internet speeds.

    Thanks for the replies.

If the broadband is already on this line with O2, then you won't get any cashback.

  • It's not on the line currently, but has been on recently. Different person taking it out for the first time so if it doesn't track, i'll file a claim I guess as it's genuine new customer sign up - just happens to be a line which has recently used their service. As I said, it's still the best option without the cashback in the end so that's just a bonus (that I feel I should be able to get...so hopefully can)

Mind you, they wouldn't budge on their mobile tariffs. Wouldn't even knock £4 a month off to keep me as a customer even when I said i'd be willing to sign up for 24 months...i'm currently just pay as you go - yet 3 mobile gave my partner a £12 a month high usage, free smartphone contract that's usually >£20.

I find O2 customer service for a problem is excellent, but they don't seem too fussed about keeping customers. I'm been offered some crazy deals in the past from people trying to keep my custom but O2 are not fussed at all. lol

If it's not active currently on the line, then it's a new sign up. The fact that O2 broadband was at some former date used on that line cannot be relevant.
