What's the point of sending anything recorded delivery?

Not sure if there's a point is sending anything recorded delivery, the way I see it is if you send special delivery then you can prove they got the item and therefore can't get chargebacked. If you send normal post but get proof of posting then they may chargeback but you can then claim the money back from post office as I doubt they are going to say to the post office that they received it, even if they did you can prove to the post office that they cliamed the money back as they didn't receive it.
BUT if you send recorded delivery then you can still get a chargeback as paypal don't accept recorded as proof, and if they chargeback then you can't get your money back from the post office either as they have proof that they delivered as it was signed for.
So in summary, what's the point of sending anything paid for by paypal by recorded delivery?

As far as I know they only accept special delivery as it's online trackable whereas recorded can't be done on-line. Not 100% sure but that's what I've got from reading threads on here.0 -
recorded delivery is tracked using the same online system as special delivery0

There isn't really but it does make some buyers happy especially if they have problems with their mail.
But the general consensus is it is more useful for sending documents etc and then at least you can prove they have arrived, but from an ebay/paypal perspective there isn't any..apart from reassurance (for buyers)0 -

Maybe I've made a mistake then?
From reading this thread I thought that paypal only accept special delivery as opposed to recorded delivery to avoid chargebacks?
If what you say is true then everyone please ignore my original post!0 -
recorded delivery gives online proof of delivery just as special delivery does
the only thing it doesn't offer is tracking
i use it to prove delivery and cut down on false item not received claims0 -

So paypal accept it to stop false chargebacks?0 -

yes i'm pretty sure they do
all they need is online proof of delivery, which recorded delivery provides
(providing the postman actually got someone to sign for it and didnt just stuff it in someones letterbox or lose the copy of signature)0 -
My recollection is that PayPal only accept recorded/special delivery if the consignment is signed for by the eBay/PayPal member to whom the item is sold. So if someone's mum signs for the item you are !!!!!!ed (basically.)0
