Can anyone help please?

Before i start tis is not a top end luxury car we are talking about.

I bought a car 2 years ago it wasnt quite 12 months old.It had what was left of the 3 year warranty and has been no trouble what so ever untill now :( It has just gone 2 months out of warranty and started playing up.I took it to my local dealership where i have had the car serviced who put it on there diagnostics machine and told me there is a problem with a valve on the turbo and it is going to cost £2400 to put right:eek: The car has only done 36800 miles is it unresonable to think the manufacturer is to blame? surely a modern Diesel car should last longer than 3years or 36000 miles??? can anyone please give me some advice on how i can resolve this without costing me an arm and a leg

Yours hopefully George

ring mitshibushi customer services or get the garage to ring them to see if they will pay for it. They should pay all/some towards it as it has been looked after
  • also look at mitsubishi forums to see if anyone else has had same problem. this was the first i found with google http://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/

I'd be very surprised if that didn't yield a result.:)
  • Well i have just heard back today from Mitsubishi UK and all they are willing to do is let me have the part for £564.88 +vat instead of £1101.30+vat still leaves me with a bill just short of £1500 with labour i have also found out this is a common problem on this particular car but they wont admit to that either! I am furious :@I also told them that the new part only comes with a 2 year warranty and could easily break again after that 2years is up all they had to say was that's very doubtful I only wish i was as confident. Any more advice please??
  • I'd be very surprised if someone hasn't found out how to fix this problem yet, keep searching and you'll find someone who knows how to sort it out i'm quite sure, possibly a workshop like Turbo Technics may be able to fix it.

Thanks for letting us know of another car maker who doesn't want repeat customers for their products though, duly noted.

Too many short journey's. You need to thrash it a bit every now and then.

Too many diesels fail the MOT because of excess smoke, A good thrash cures a lot of them.

If it was a VW, I'd say you've done well to get 3 years trouble free motoring out of it ;)
Keep on at mitsubushi, write to their head office, they might not pay for it all, but I'd expect at least 50%-75% of the total bill paid for.

As poster above says, you can't treat modern diesel cars like petrol ones, you need to give them a bit of a run now and then.

Japanese companies never will, they must spend more on pr than on warranty.
You could try a complaint to the SMMT.
