                    Hi,
yesterday I ordered a fridge freezer online from Comet's web site. Paid by credit card. Item is a web special so not available in store.
Delivery due Nov 27th.
Today I heared they have been sold off.
Should I worry and cancel my order from them?
Thanks

            You are quite safe.0

you are quite safe if you read the reports Comet is being sold off for £2 to a private equity company, but the current owners are placing at £50M stake in the new company, so it looks like its just a tax dodge0

            Hi,
 Thanks for the comforting words.
So all I have to worry about is if they are good at delivering when they say they will!!!

If you're buying anything from Comet, that will be the least of your worries. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

The new owners have committed to keeping Comet as an ongoing concern for at least 18 months. If they haven't managed to turn it around by then, then they may look to sell it on/close it down. Although if they haven't managed to turn it around by then, there's something wrong with them.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
 Now 20% cooler0

In my opinion, the reason why Comet were in so much trouble is that people stopped buying things from them, because of their appalling customer service. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

I never really liked comet. They are just a bit better than currys group.
Apart from trying to get you to buy extended warranties, they would pass your personal details on to domestic and general, without permission.
If you purchase something over a hundred pounds, comet think they have some right to ask for your name and address. They won't sell to you unless you give it to them. So I have always used a fake or old address.
Comet have no right to force people to give details over. Just tell them to put the store address in if they do, or walk out. You end up having to call head office to get your details removed.
Thier is no law that requires you to give a retailer your address, to buy anything. Only time they will or can ask is for, home delivery or when buying a new TV.
Comet needs to get rid of that stupid policy, if they want to stay in business.Say No to smart meters!
