Transfer of Egg Money to Barclaycard

It's been a disaster so far. First of all my current statement shows £10.77 interest charge!!! I pay the full amount by direct debit each month. When I rang them there was no explanation. I will get a credit on my next statement, but will have to pay this charge on my next payment date.
Also no sign of the £66+ cashback I have accrued with Egg. When I rang I was told they will look into it and I should call back in 4 or 5 days! this is really annoying -'phone calls aren't free. Why should I pay to sort out problems of their making.
I tried to send an email of complaint, but got logged out before I had finished because of inactivity on the account!
I think Barclaycard will be losing me as a customer:mad:

Haven't you been reading the other threads? Full of woe.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

  • I got the same - interest charge of £6.80 despite having a DD that should pay it off in full every month. I got told to call back in a couple of days. Really annoying - it is their error or Egg's error. I told them to sort out the problem and ring ME back. I won't hold my breath....

    anyone else been charged interest?

Me too, always paid Egg Money in full. After three days cannot logon eventually get monthly statement that shows interest charged. Indian call centre staff absolutely clueless pretend that my balance with Egg Money not paid in full when it was. After investigation I say that I object to erroneous statement overpayment. What a bunch of !!!!!!s

Not been charged any interest on the actual statement, although the first day of the switch, my payment (pay fully each month on time) wasn't showing. That's fine though, and no interest was ever charged.

What I don't like about the design of the website, however, is the 'estimated interest to be charged - if you don't pay by the month-end'. Nevertheless I will get used to it, of course.

Just got to feel so sorry for the call centre staff, who remain polite and humourous despite all the calls. But the IT staff responsible should be fired.

    What a shambles.
  • I too have been charged interest for the first time ever on this account and my cash back to date has also disappeared and been reduced to the amount earned on my first Barclaycard statement.
I have messaged them and waited for the reply within 24 hours which never came before messaging again, so another 24 hour wait ahead of me before I find out what is going on but I am not holding my breath.
I refuse to phone as that would be just giving them more money and judging by the previous post won't get me far.
I would pay the outstanding amount and close the account but I do not want to pay their out of the blue (I could find any warning of this in the information they sent me before the take over) interest charge and I also don't want to give up on my (so far) £63 cash back.
I am certainly not a happy Barclaycard customer and it has only been 3 days.
Come back Egg as there was never anything to be forgiven!

Remember a while back when Egg closed people accounts out of the blue?

Those people are silently smirking now.

    He who laughs last....

  • I won't re-post, but needless to say I am having similar problems to people above: Interest charges, broken website, clueless staff etc..

Just wanted to remind people: Don't pay anything to call Barclaycard to sort this mess out. I used https://www.saynoto0870.com and retrieved this freephone number:

    0800 0282360

Alternatively you could use 1899 (or equivalent) and use one of the geographical numbers listed on saynoto0870 - which I did when I forgot about the 0800 number further down the page! eg: 01604 234234
  • Just write to them to complain. They have to reply. Send recorded and wait for it to get sorted. Cost you about £1.25 but life's too short to play the phone game.

Yep I've just transferred my stuff now and it makes no sense. They've changed my payment date to the day before I get paid, instead of the day after, as it is now, and they've got me down as making a payment of £0.75p on that date, despite me having a direct debit for the full amount, which is about £1200. Fully expect this to be a total mess to sort out. But to be honest I don't really have a patience, for the sake of the £120 cashback I get a year I can't be arsed, I'll probably just get a credit card with someone else.

Yes it is a complete joke. Why they couldn't allow you to register online and at least setup your accounts before the 7th November made no sense to me.

The whole thing has been handled very badly. Shame on your Egg and Barclaycard.
