Trying to Cancel Sky Early

I wondered if anyone had had a similar problem and could offer some advice.
I've been with Sky for 3 months for TV, Phone and Broadband. Basically I've been getting BB speeds around 0.4 to 1Meg for the whole time I've been with them. They promised me a minimum of 6Mb with a possible of 8Mb.
I've complained at Sky and they've acknowledged they're at fault and are happy to cancel my BB and phone with immediate effect but are holding me to the TV contract which leaves me in an awkward situation.
I could get BB and Phone from Virgin but that'll cost me £27.40 a month for 10Mb BB and basic phone. My TV from Sky will still cost me £29 a month leaving me around £11 out of pocket a month for Sky being rubbish.
Now here's the crux of the matter. Am I legally allowed to cancel all my services with Sky because the BB is not up to scratch. They insist not but I'm not so sure.
I gave them two options
i) compensate me for the out of pocket expenses associated with going to Virgin - ie - reduce my TV bill by £11
ii) cancel everything and let me take my business elsewhere.
They offered me a £5 discount on my TV, which I rejected and told me option ii) was not possible without "repercussions".
Anyone been in a similar situation and gotten anywhere?

They are been good letting you cancel the phone, as its the broadband your having the problem with. They dont have to let you cancel the tv, or compensate you for virgin pricesDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

No-they're separate contracts. What you've already been offered is a good deal.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

We dont know where you signed up (3rd party or direct) and via what method, were you forwarded the correct binding T&C from sky within the correct time scale? what did you signs and what does it say regarding this matter?0

There are no SLA's (Service Level Agreements) in force, so if once service doesn't work as it should they should compensate you until it is fixed. If this isn't a possibility, they are being reasonable in letting you terminate, BUT anyone using the same phone line may end up providing a similar (bad) service, as the line remains the same all the way to the exchange. Your libility for entertainment services will remain, as they are not connected in any way, and are seperate agreements.0

@ Kurtis - I've not signed anything, I signed up online so I think that counts as a "digital" signature. I did get the paperwork through in the post as well so I don't think there are any contractual byapsses to be had.
@ Buzby - I've asked around compensation and they're "getting back to me". It's true around the phone-line hence my only other choice is Virgin Media and cable Broadband. I've had this previously and it was solid but the cost associated with Sky TV and Virgin BB and Phone is what makes cancelling the Sky BB unpalattable (sp?)
I was just wondering if anyone had challenged the legality of the two contracts thing and had a result either way?0
