High Vodafone bill
I have a vodafone contract out in my name but the wife uses the phone. I currently get 100 free minutes 100 texts for £10.20 a month.
My wife exceeded her allowance this month and I have just received the bill for £102 which I cannot afford to pay this month.
I had a problem about 6 months ago when I was getting charged for using the internet even though my wife insisted she didnt (think she just accidently hit the internet button and was getting charged for loading the homepage) so I phoned them up and they eventually put a bar on (was told bar was in place but was still being charged so they eventually refunded my money) and i vaguely remember asking for a bar to be put in place for excessive calls but obviously no bar was put in place
I phoned vodafone up and was told that no bar is in place and I should have took note on what minutes i was using/had left. He has cancelled my direct debit and I will have to call the collections team after my direct debit was originally due and try and arrange to pay in installments.
Just wondering if anybody has any expierience of this and any info to help me fight my case

To fight what? You "vaguely remember asking" Vodafone to put a bar for excessive calls and I have never heard about Vodafone putting such bar.
Check the itemised bill and if it is for the calls admit your fault and ask Vodafone to reduce the amount you owe as a goodwill gesture.
Re mobile internet, this thread can be of interest to you: Vodafone Data Charges for Automatic Updates!
As a side note you can have 100+100+internet for £6 with chitter-chatter (t-mobile).
For £10 you can get 250+Unltd+internet with giffgaff and cannot spend more without topping up.0 -
I'm not sure what case you have to fight?
You acknowledge that your wife has exceeded the agreed contract allowance - therefore you need to pay for the remainder.
If you only 'vaguely remember' asking for an agreed limit to be put in place, but have no evidence to back this up - I really don't think that you have any case at all.
Sorry if this sounds harsh...but I manage 3 accounts (Mine/Wife/Daughter) - we all know our allowances, if anyone goes over, then I have to pay the difference. I'm really not sure that it has to be put any simpler than that.0 -
I don't believe that Vodafone put bars on their services - voice and text, so they wouldn't have been able to meet your desire to manage your account to cater for verbal incontinence from either you or your wife.
Think back to what your wife was using her phone for last month. Ask her if the content was worth £101.

The majority of the calls was my wife phoning her dad who has terminal cancer and was in a care home at the time and has been told he only has weeks to live so her mind wasnt in the right place. like i said before vodafone was still charging me internet when i asked for a bar. this was eventually refunded and i thought at the time i had also asked for a cap on calls as 100 minutes is nothing and i didnt want to pay excessive bills.0

Unfortunatly Vodafone have never offered a capped minutes or capped bill amounts.
Sorry it's not better news.0 -
Then you need... i had also asked for a cap on calls as 100 minutes is nothing and i didnt want to pay excessive bills.- more expensive contract with a bigger allowance
- bigger allowance at some other network for the same £10
- PAYG
- capped tariff that only Tesco Mobile and T-mobile offer.
