Kindle on to HP Touchpad

GOT IT!!!

Took touchpad and printed instructions from web blog round to friend's house and used their desktop. Went through exactly the same steps and this time quickinstall launched correctly. Have managed to instal Kindle on touchpad.

Must have been some problem with Java on my computer, maybe a security conflict.

Did have one problem when installation seemed to hang for ever, but read through printed out comments from web blog and found this was because I had selected USB drive on touchpad and not simply closed the dialogue box when it appeared. At second attempt installed in a few minutes.

well done, you can buy loads of books on ebay and you need to install calibre on your pc, give me a shout if you want me to talk you through it.
You can only buy the older books on ebay though due to copyright

Good work - sounds like Java is screwed up on your computer. If it was installed correctly, QuickInstall would have just opened, as it's a .JAR (?) file and should just open like a programme when Java is installed properly.

Thanks Polmop. I already had a Kindle, so I've transferred my books on to Touchpad. I'll have a look soon at ebay books and installing calibre. I'll get back if I need help.

Next step will probably be to get around to using Skype, but time enough for that.

Did have a surprise when I was reading Kindle book and found screen had no toolbar, only a page of book, but googled for instructions and discovered how to display toolbar and what the icons meant.
