Kindle on to HP Touchpad

Hi

Can anyone help silver surfer before I have to spend the rest of my life trying to instal Kindle on HP touchpad!

I've got the instructions from a website. I've downloaded the Kindle App and WebOSquickinstall with both showing in my list of downloads on my desktop. I've gone into developer mode on the Touchpad and it is connected to the desktop. Next step should be to launch quickinstall, but the problem comes here.

Whether I double-click on quickinstall or right-click and select open, I get the message asking for permission to make changes, OK, then box appears asking for JAVA to be installed, go through process, OK Then NOTHING else happens, I'm back to looking at list of downloads. If I repeat trying to launch quickinstall the whole process with Java starts over again.

Anyone know where I'm going wrong?

When I'm circling round after trying to open Quickinstall, I get the box for installing Java. I select install, then OK. Where do I check to see if Java has actually installed?

You should then be able to click on quick install and open it, if you can you need to click on the green tick and find where you saved kindle and double click on it

Well, I've gone to the Java website and downloaded. It said I already had Java, but I selected uninstall and reinstall in case previous version had a problem.

Still getting the same problem, when I go into download list and try to open quickinstall I get the instal Java message and when I select install I get told it is already installed. Nothing else happens.

I'll try a new download of quickinstall to see if the problem is there.

You shouldnt need to go into download list, it should be on your desktop, check where you have downloaded quick install to

4.3.1 appears to be the most up to date version of quick install, found here:

I hope you're using that. Sounds like Java's installed OK.

Right, I've resaved quickinstall on to desktop. When I try to open it, it asks what program I want to open it with, so I've selected Java. I then get the box asking to make changes and install Java which goes through the process and then tells me it is already installed.

Sorry really puzzled it should just let you open it without asking, maybe there are some experts on java who can help, are you trying on a desktop machine or a laptop

Thanks for your help. I'm using an HP desktop. I'll have to give up on this just now and wait for visit from my son at Christmas to sort out things.

He actually works for HP, but doesn't have a touchpad and his contribution so far, apart from encouraging me to buy one, has been to refer me to the link on Kindle installation and a mention of asking around to see if anyone has encountered similar problem.

Anyway, thanks for all your help. If you do come across any new info, please let me know.

Just another thought can you see java in your control panel.
And if you go into add/remove programmes can you remove it and then reinstall it direct from java
