USB device not recognised.

I had a camera the computer didn't recognise. I thought, "What sort of a message is that? It's just a camera. They've been around for years and years"!! After saying this a few times to the computer (in no uncertain terms), it eventually realised what it was.

It did involve plugging the USB lead into a socket directly on the computer though. It wouldn't work through an un-powered USB hub. Any hub bought is a powered one now. The computer has no trouble recognising devices plugged in via those.

Thanks to you all. I will spend some time this pm trying to sort it out. I don't have another pc, or another usb cable or another usb "hole" isthis the "port" or the "hub"? in my computer that my one and only USB cable will fit in. I have tried removing camera batteries, removing laptop batteries, and unplugging laptop overnight.

Did the manual's instructions not cover it?
