Please can someone help? I need to get some pictures from my camera onto the computer and I keep getting this message. This is the only thing that I plug into the computer-there is nothing else and its functioned fine up to this point, although it hasn't been used for a while. Any advice much appreciated.

Perhaps you can begin with the details of the equipment involved.....0

Remove the SD card and use the card reader in your PC (If you have one) to drag and drop the photos to your PC Hard drive.
Despite rumours to the contrary we are not psychic, so details of the camera type, your PC and operating system will be helpful.

Sorry.
Its Windows XP on a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop-about 5 years old. The camera is from Aldi-very basic-called Traveller, about 4 years old. I have been using it without the card-just relying on the internal memory.0 -
It might sound strange but remove the battery from the camera, reinsert it and then hook the camera upto the laptop again. I've got a video camera that pops up as unrecognised from time to time and this works for me.0

Look for more details of the camera(such as the Model No.).0 -
Have you got access to another PC you can plug it into?
First step is to always determine where the issue is. If possible, plug it into another PC and see what response you get; if it's the same problem then we're looking at a camera / cable issue. If it works on there, it's a PC issue0 -
Have you followed the advice in post 3 yet?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
