Anyone know of a way I can attach an image to either a personal message or a public posting without having to use a remote server?
Nothing important really, just haven't got a server that I can use and want to post a piccy

A picture of a house, presumably?0

How dare you!
No, it's just this post from Laminki in the "diary" tickled me:One wore a tattered tiger costume with a dirty red cape and 2 faded "M"s emblazoned across his chest.
So I knocked up an artists impression. - It was a Friday - who does real work then
Just thought it would be fun to post it somewhere, but can't handle having to explain to my IT guys exactly why I need to put a picture of a man in tiger-skin tights on our webpage
Anyway, it's late, I'm off to bed - have a good weekend y'all

Can you tell me how you do it as well. I have a few images I wouldn't mind posting

Hi everyone
Can someone please post here how to put images in a post or pm? I was trying to do it using html code until I saw you have to use special Yabb code. It still doesn't work for me though.
Thanks in advance
Andrea

Looks as though you have to use a remote server, unless Martins' site allows you to upload an image first.

Er, I guess that last posting wasn't very helpful to anyone desperately wanting to stick an image up with a posting etc.
Best thing to do is to utilise your 'free' ISP webspace and upload (FTP) your images to that space. Then, simply link to the url of the image within the YaBB [image] tag when posting.
Is that any better?

Hi Nix
Thanks for the replies. If I can do that from my own webspace (which I don't have - yet) how come I can't do that from any other website?
Its not actually an image I have on my computer I want to post. Its an image from another website. I've been trying for ages but it just doesn't work. I've been fiddling with the html code (I only know basic html from a 10-week course I did) but nothing happens.
Thanks again
Andrea

What you need to do is find the complete URL for the image (you can right click and select properties to get this). Put the URL in image tags like this:
[ img]http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/img/logo-l.jpg[ /img]
But remove the extra spaces which I put in so you could see the tags.0 -
Evening Andrea,If I can do that from my own webspace (which I don't have - yet) how come I can't do that from any other website?
Answer - theoretically, you should be able to.
See if this works:- go to the webpage that the image is on.
- click on "View" (top left of browser window).
- click on "Source".
- in the html coding, find the image you want to link to (this should be in the <img src=""> tag). If this is a relative link to the site then you must add the website url in first followed by a forward slash and then the relative image link. If the site was constructed in eg framesets, it probably won't show so there is nothing you can do except get in touch with the webmaster and beg for use of the image. Come to think of it, it would be polite and considerate to ask anyway if you want to use his/her image as they may have a copy right on it.

- if the img tag uses an absolute link, then just copy the whole URL and paste it into the YaBB 'image' tag.
Of course, once you've got your own webspace you can upload to, you only need to copy the image and send it to your own space...
Any probs, PM me.
NixI'm NOT political so DON'T correct me!0 - go to the webpage that the image is on.
