You guys take all the fun out of things but it did seem strange that my low offer was of interest to the seller, wouldn't a relisting be more usual? I've only recently started to use Ebay and I don't want to learn a hard and pricey lesson!0
-
why should he relist when he can give 2nd chances to several people for hundreds of pounds each...and walk off with the cash.0

I agree with the others. Walk away

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.0 -
If your gut instinct is to walk away, go with it...!0

Definitely walk away. How many sets of vouchers has he got - several people bidded higher than you so for you to get a second chance shouts

MOCHA wrote:I've received a 'second chance offer' for £750 of Argos vouchers at a very good price. I'm tempted to accept the offer but it's a cheque arrangement and the buyer has only been registered for 2 weeks and has zero feedback!
Is this 'too good to be true'?
I'm sorry but I'm going to be schoolmarmish here, but I can't help it.
Do you really have to ask this question, honestly? Have you read any of the help pages on ebay about safe trading, have you done the tuturorials for buyers? If not then do so before you bid on anything else.
Ebay suggest you check previous feedback, see what seller has sold and look for any unusual patterns...so no feedback screams 'walk away'.
An Ebay claim for non receipt only covers losses up to £105, so in cases where your payment is higher than that are you happy to lose the extra?
Would anyone honestly send a cheque to a complete stranger with no feedback history for several hunred pounds, would you give a stranger in a pub £300 and expect him to turn up with a TV for you a month later? If not, then why do basically that on ebay?
These scammers will continue to scam while we let them, the ony way we can stop them is to not fall for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Well said Soo. Other question why are you only asking this question now...you nust have bid on the item.....arghhhh...scary.0

The easiest way to call their bluff is say, "oh, Im local, could I collect and pay in cash". If they say yes and start discussing meeting locations then 99% sure its legit.
I do that all the time and Ive never been ripped off in 6 years and over 700 transactions.
The phrase "if it looks too good to be true... it probably is"... doesnt always apply to ebay. Ive had some mega deals that other people have have suspected to be dodgey but they were legit.0 -

In my defence I'm a new buyer on the site but the points raised are totally valid. I'm going to decline this offer because as people have said it seems dodgy.
