I suspect he is a low energy user who doesn't want to contribute fairly to the fixed overhead costs incurred in delivering his energy, which is what tier one/the standing charge pays for.
I suspect he is a she, judging from the petition details, which now has 4 signatories, so only 99,996 to go!
I also suspect she doesn't have a clue how existing utility charges for domestic users are constructed.... should be right at home with a bunch of politicians.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. This won't achieve, anything.
OFGEM are going to force a change in structure so each region has one standing charge which is the same across all suppliers & ONE unit rate (NO BANDS / THRESHOLDS / TIERS). This single unit can vary by supplier. If you have a multi register meter then you will get one unit rate per register.
Therefore this argument is irrelevant!0 -
I am not concerned about the drop in price after first few units that include what used to be called standing charge.
After these few unit the 'standard' unit price,
then after significant usage the unit charge then goes down, this is the drop that I feel is wrong and the petition is designed to question.
I hope this clarifies the aim of the petition.
The above makes no sense as written.
Many people live in an all electric property, so use far more electricity than those of us with gas and oil for heating and hot water.
So if I use, say, 3,000kWh pa. electricity because I have gas CH, your argument seems to be that a tenant in an all electric property who uses 15,000kWh pa should pay a higher rate for their electricity so I can get mine a little cheaper?0
