    IMO the onus is on the purchaser to check what they have purchased within a reasonable time.
    Same day/day after is often the time to contact a store about missing items, the same week also - a month later at the extreme but
    three months later - now way. This one is completely the customers fault and loss. It could have been misplaced at home/work wherever it ws supposed to be.

    Might even turn up in another PC forgotten about.

    Even as a customer I would expect absolutely no chance of getting a replacement after so long.

    Give him a free pack of floppy disks and tell him not to lose them too :D:D
