Wrapped the boys presents yesterday and whilst we've been fairly sensible and not gotten carried away, I think they both have some nice things that they will enjoy and I'm really thinking that we don't need to go crazy and buy anything else for them. So, that's another job ticked off the list.
DH made some rather nice brownies yesterday, yum0 -

Giving serious thought to blowing our 'free' £100 voucher from V1rgin on the family Christmas party0 -

Not sure whether "inspired" is the right word - maybe "tempted" lol. Sorry to be a bad influence.....
If you have a voucher it's kind of like free money/food - enjoy!!0 -
I have pretty much finished, all shop stuff bought, last parcel should arrive by Saturday and I just have to send a Christmas bouquet of flowers to my nan. I have laid everything out on my bed and there doesn't look to be very much, I confess to thinking about buying more. I have made a note of how much I have spent on everyone and it is about £30 per person so I am staying strong and not buying any more.
Stick with staying strong.... I'm sure that you don't need to buy anything else. Truth is the more we spend, then the more other people feel compelled to spend and so it continues until it can possibly get a little out of hand.
I've "despatched' the presents for other family members now, so I can't get tempted to buy more for any of them.
It's just hubby and the boys now, hubby and I are definitely being good as neither of us really want or need anything anyway - it's just the chance that we may pick up some extra bits for the boys - but I shall do my best to resist!!0 -
Chocolate Bingo at DS2's school last night - fun evening, but cost £10. It's for a good cause though (school stuff??) so I shall consider it as money well spent. It was lovely actually playing bingo with the boys, they got ever so excited, especially when we won a selection box for getting a line!
Plumber managed to fix the shower at the B2L, however, we may still end up needing a new one down the line, fingers crossed. So, receipt printed, filed and various spreadsheets updated with the small cost!
DS1 has been buying two bottles of water a day at school, he doesn't even really like drinking water very much??!! I've noticed it's fizzy water so suspect the kids at secondary school still do the thing where they puncture the bottle and then squirt it everywhere - at least thats what the male loons at my old school used to do. He kind of admitted it, I read him the riot act and pointed out that over a month he would be spending almost as much on his fizzy water as I do on the bl**dy water bill.
Thankfully we can monitor everything he buys as everything is purchased via finger print technology - so there's no escaping, I shall be watching!!
DS2 was amused to find out Elf in the cold water dispenser of the fridge this morning - wrapped in a flannel - seems our Christmas Elf had taken a shower!
In money news.... ticking along quietly. CC remains out of my purse although tbh, most of my shopping is done online and the CC details are stored everywhere, so it really doesn't make too much difference.
Actually - I did order something yesterday - some cheap but lovely colourful prints from John Lewis for the kitchen wall and some frames from Ikea to go with them. Just going to have 3 of them across the back wall as it's very blank still and needs a bit of colour and some homely touches. I saw some beautiful artwork but it's all so expensive - I shall make do with my £5 prints! (Hope they're nice when they arrive)0 -
Very wet and windy out there today......
Got up early ish and deposited DS2 at his Beavers Christmas fun day..... DS1 and I were naughty and went out for breakfast together, which was very pleasant.
Popped two Waitrose to collect the JL prints, seem nice - will know better once I have the prints.
A nice cuppa with my BFF back at home and then painted my nails. Oh and have thrown in a few loads of washing in the mean time and tidied the downstairs.
Neighbours have asked if we'd like to all go out for dinner tomorrow eve, but will politely decline as watching the spends and ask if they'd like to pop round for a drink after they've eaten as an alternative.
I've a good hour left before I need to collect DS2 so best get DS1 some late lunch and sort the rest of the washing out.
Lovely and cosy inside with the heating ON and various lamps on too but I don't like it to be cold and dark inside.0 -
DS2's Nativity play - it was lovely..... Cried (as I always do) when they sang Little Donkey.
It's on again tomorrow and he wants us to go again and watch it!
Was so tempted to head out early and go via Star*ucks for an eggnog latte but resisted.
Still managing to avoid the temptation of more present purchases - it's truly a miracle!
Infact, I'm not really being spendy at all. Which really is a huge miracle considering how spendy I can be. Am I finally on the path to financial righteousness?!0 -
My spending halo just feel down and strangled me. I succumbed to the latest Bo8y Shop promotion and bought a few bits and pieces to stock up..... They have 40% off everything, you also get a free full size Shea body butter when you spend £10 and you also get free delivery. Seems like a total bargain and a good shout if you need any last minute presents or are running low on shower gels etc!0
