Enjoyed watching the nick/Margaret programme - it's quite humbling when you see how hard some people work, long hours etc. DH and I both agreed that we are ridiculously lucky and are feeling very fortunate.

Couldn't agree more - I am on such a cushy number for a very generous salary in comparison to Stevie, the carer. She really was amazing, and it was heartening that Liam ended up working with her after his initial poor attitude.

    MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

Couldn't agree more... I think that's what humbles me really... She works so hard and helps people doing things that most of us wouldn't want to do and most likely with a much smaller salary too. I have so much respect for her and for others doing that job.

I'm deffo on a cushy number too natty, compared to her and some of the others in the programme.

I couldn't do her job either, carers are definitely one in a million.

Lots of respect for Stevie, the other working families and those who were trying to turn their lives around.

Think I may be on the cushiest number :o Worked very hard to get here though and, if I add up all the extra hours I did over those 27 years of work, I must have enough in the bank to cover me now :rotfl:

I think that's it exactly Fortune. We all have our different circumstances, yet have worked hard either to change our lot, or through circumstance, or by nature of our being.

I could have so easily been the single parent on benefits, however I made a choice that this wouldn't be the lifestyle (or life) in which my children would be raised. It was difficult to juggle, my son in particular hated going to childcare and at times I hated my job! However, both my children have the most fantastic work ethic and although I still have a bit of financial messiness going on, I would HATE to be on benefits and really struggle when I hear people say 'it's not worthwhile working'. This is a terrible excuse to remain on state handouts - in my opinion of course....

Lula will know what I mean as I bemoaned to her the other day about such a circumstance ;)

Your noise post made me laugh. I am exactly the same. I convince myself out of moving and then summer comes and I can hear neighbours! I'm sure I am super sensitive to noise it drives me wild! I think I would only be happy in a field surrounded by no one! xx

The bills have been paid though :D

A lovely cool breeze is in the air this afternoon, which makes sitting outside lovely, I imagine it's still scorching where you are?
