Ha - DH is fine, he's never had it so good. I'm waiting on him hand and foot and trying to keep the children from pestering him. I'm sure he'll be looking for some more surgery next time he needs a break....!!

I cooked sticky salmon and greens for dinner. Best meal I've had in yonks. I'll share the recipe - it takes 15 mins including prep, is very healthy and super tasty.

    3 tbsp oyster sauce
    2 tbsp teriyake sauce
    1 tbsp honey
    mix together

salmon fillets - heat oven to around180/200 - brush some of the mix over the salmon and cook for 10 mins.

1 clove garlic - finely chopped
1 red chilli - finely chopped
small pice ginger, 2cm ish - grated
    Greens - I chose:
broccoli chopped in to small pieces
    sugar snap peas - pack
saviy cabbage (cheaper than bok choi! as on 39p in Aldi)

heat bit of sesame and olive oil in wok
    chuck in the chilli/garlic/ginger
then add brocolli for a min
add sugar snaps for few mins
    add savoy few mins
then, add the rest of the sauce that made for the salmon and warm through

    Serve - absolutely delish!!

The recipe looks fantastic lula, and I'm glad OH is okay, as I was a bit:eek: when I read your post about him having to go for an op.

Regarding no alcohol 'til April - is this neither buying NOR drinking? If so....this might just encourage me to stretch my abstinence for a further 2 months:D
    February13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
    MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

Love my coffee and catch ups on a Sunday morning....

DH is sort of asleep next to me... His op was on his nose and its quite difficult for him to breathe. It will be like this for a few weeks..... He seems to be managing quite well to snooze though, hmmmmm.....

I'm still being the good wife and waiting on him but I must confess that I'm a really crap carer. My patience runs dry very quickly and I never keep too much sympathy in my reserves. I'm awful, I know.

Opens the back door earlier to put out the recycling and it's gret, very cold and windy outside. Looks like another day of not really doing too much.

Boys are playing nicely with the play mobile. I've bribed them with £1 each if they can play nicely without shouting and crying. My 3 year old declared it a "deal" and the pair of them went off happily.

I'm happy to give them them bits of money here and there as they are saving it all in the money boxes for our holiday. Lets face it, it's money I would spend on them on holiday anyway but I like them to save it themselves and then they can decide what they want to treat themselves to when we are there. There's infinite amazing things for them to buy on holiday!

Making a sausage casserole for dinner tonight. Think I'll pad it out with some mustard mash and maybe even some Yorkshire puddings as fussy ds1 loves Yorkshire......

Managed to do lots of housework yesterday so today will be very easy going.

Hey Natty - the alcohol thing. The main thing was not to buy any.... Which has been fine so far.
Ideally not drinking any either although I did get a last glass from the ginger wine last night (didn't bother in the end on Friday).
I've been for a few work lunches and have managed to avoid my usual large glass of wine so far and I'm sticking to lime and soda.
It's my birthday at the beginning of march so I might be naughty and indulge a little bit then, but that's it.
Are you up for the challenge?

  • May I join you both please? I managed all but one day in January - friends birthday and a group went out for a meal. My main reasons for starting this 'alcohol reduction' in 2013 were firstly I was a weekend binge drinker :D no the 'falling over, vomiting in the street' kind, just drinking a bottle plus and not really noticing  Plus my fave sauvignin blancs have gone up in price (even though I try to buy only on offer) and lots of calories I can use better elsewhere! ( DS wedding in Sept so trying to shape up!)

Yes, please do join in! I reckon halfway through the month I'll start to waiver so personally would love as much company and encouragement as possible:T

Tidies the pennies on the two current accounts this morning - I pop them in to a savings account and then will transfer it "all" at the end of the month....

£36.99 received from Quidco and sent straight off to the mortgage.....

DH home for 2 weeks signed off sick - could be expensive. He's already been to the DIY shop today and I daren't ask how much he has spent. Grrrrr
