That is a very good point on saving fuel, I well we do now what I read on this forum a while ago about saving fuel, it was saying if you go out make sure all your supermarkets are within the circle so you go to the furthest first and then another one and lastly the one closest to you so you have covered them all for all their BOGOF etc but you have made one circular trip rather than 3/4 trips individual trips out, that is what we do now:D0

hello everyone
this is a fab thread which ive subbed to and have laughed out loud at some things that i felt i was mad not to divulge to others before but here i find you lot are doing some already , thank god i wont be seeing the men in white coats now,,,,lmbo
i just need to show hubby this thread, hahah
anyway seriously i do bits and bobs and i really must now take it to the next level of seriousness, even more savings, as much as i can and i will try out a few of your tips already and yes i agree only buy the stuff you do actually need, and use a lot of and make sure the sizes are worth it too, i find sometimes, best get 2 items at a cheaper rate than the size of one whole packet etc, so im teaching my kids too and its helping them with their maths:D
anyway im off to home bargains today, already been in co op and got their Comfort fab continioner melon and lotus flower lift, a green bottle 21 washes, for 99p.... i find co op not one of my cheapest shops but i still gander in and as the others were over 2.00 for the other smells, i thought to try it and see if it was good
if so im back at the co op unless i get it cheaper anywhere else on my travels today
also must plan my meals and also plan my cupboards, and what is this with amazon, must go over and take a look there too
so thanks guys and gals, much inspired and will keep looking in daily for anymore tips
have a fun day maz x:beer:Sealed Pot Challenge member 1525

72 hour kits are used for emergencies like we live in a likely flood area so we place our 72 kits in an area where we can grab them on leaving. We have food to last 72 hours loo roll change of clothes wind up radio torch. They have them in the states a lot in earthquake zones. Again pack what you need and use.May I ask what's in the kits?
Am intrigued as to what kind of emergency you mean.0 -
another tip use coupons
take a look in printable coupon thread:D0 -
Coffee is another one I don't pay full price for. I only buy Dowle Egbert or Carte Noir. Earlier this year my work, Sainsburys had 2x200g jars of DE for £7 (they were about £5.69 each at the time) and bought 4 jars of it. I am now my last jar of it as I live alone a jar lasts me about 7 weeks.
Last week, I was buying some bits. One of the coupons printed was for £1 off Carte Noir. Earlier on in the week, I put some of the CN on the shelf and noticed the 200g was £4 down from £5.99. With the staff discount at 15% at the time, I bought a jar. So it cost me £2.40!0 -
Take a note of the use by date as some offers have short dates on them
With most products, I work out the use by date in to weeks, then multiply that by the number used each week, and if possible get that number to build up a stock of things0 -

I too get all the stuff when it's on offer I know approx how long stuff will last us and buy the quantity to last upto to the use my date eg butter and cheese. Other stuff I get enough to last about 3 months and by then it's normally back on offer again. Shop at around 7pm and you can get alot of reduced items fresh goods and I freeze them, last week I dropped on packets of sirloin steak already on half price special offer and then Mr T reduced them by a further 50% so loads of packs for £1.69 for 2 steaks. You need to build your stocks up and then replace when the offer comes around again, this way I rarely have to pay full price and if I do I only get one at a time until it comes on offer. Why pay full price when you may get it YS
