Hiya Marty & a big welcome to DiaryLand
Sorry to hear about the cat trouble, they can be very expensive; mine randomly & unexpectedly contracted fleas a while back ... over £100 later on various treatments ( the first 3 were ineffective) & I finally got rid of them, but it sure didn't help the budget much.
Glad to hear that you finally have the correct diagnosis & hopefully you'll find a bit more balance & stability in your world.
I'll keep reading
xx
Hey Lovely Lula,
Thanks for joining me and for your kind words.
I am currently using the PDSA for treatment for which they only require a donation if you are able; vaccines, flea treatments and spaying are all charged but at lower rates than a vet.
I can also get pet insurance for just over £60 per year with £60 Quidco so although an expense it would be almost cancelled out. What do people think? Is it worth it while I'm using the PDSA? I would also get double Nectar points for two years!

Ola!
How are we all today? Had a good Thursday?
My Thursday started rather late, like every other day this week. Once it did start I made the obligatory mug of tea and sat down to check my mail, my email and the MSE forums.
My mail brought a further DVD from Lovefilm as they've increased from 3 to 4 discs at a time at no extra cost. I'm currently getting three months free so this isn't costing me a penny anyway! I also received a hospital appointment card and my Clubcard statement with £4 of vouchers. Not much, I know, but I very rarely shop in Tesco so not too bad. Not sure what to use them for yet as there are the two times and four times offers. Any suggestions?
My email brought a few forum updates, a few surveys to complete and the usual plethora of offers and spam. I completed an Opinium survey which took me to the £25 payout level, although haven't had an email to confirm this, but I did receive notification that Pureprofile have paid £26.20 into my bank account although it is not showing there yet!
I then set to putting the second coat of duck egg onto the living room walls as I need to be able to push the furniture back from the centre of the room as I am expecting my new sofas to arrive tomorrow. I still need to list my current sofa on Freecycle but am scared to do so just now in case the new ones don't arrive.
Had a no spend day again as made a quick tomato soup (passata, chicken stock and oregano) which I had with two ham rolls. Plenty of mugs of tea have, as usual, been consumed.
My cat is still wailing but has not left her mark on anything today. Phew! Has anyone got any tips on cleaning a mattress that she sprayed on as it currently stinks. Have tried 1001 spray cleaner but this hasn't made much of an impact. I have been considering purchasing a steam cleaner which I think would do the job but this will of course mean an outlay of cash. I think it would be an “investment” rather than a “purchase” as it would replace various cleaning products. Any opinions guys and gals?
Tomorrow will also bring someone to hopefully fix my boiler. Today's cold shower was an experience but thankfully it seems milder tonight so might be able to sleep without a jumper and trackie bottoms on.
Off to watch “This Week” and then perhaps a Lovefilm DVD.
Today's positives
Living room wall painting finished
Tesco vouchers received
Reached £25 payout on Opinium
Pureprofile £26.20 sent
No spend day
Today's negatives
Cat still wailing etc

One cup of Scottish Blend with milk, no sugar coming up then. That's just how I take mine too!
Ouch, sorry to hear about your accident. I'm assuming that they can do little about your injuries apart from drug you up on painkillers? Does the cold and wet make things worse? I was in a shunt accident years ago but thankfully it only left me with shock and a wee bit of neck pain.
The one bit of me that WASN'T damaged was my neck/spine :rotfl:, cold and wet really makes it worseand yes live with the pain or dope up on pain killers that barely touch it (and pile the weight on, so I tend not to bother!), oh and in response to your previous query the lunch was at the local pub

God, it must be awful for you. I did wonder about the cold and wet so hope you stay wrapped up and cosy and dry this winter. I know it doesn't help physically but did you get any compensation?
Mmm, love a bit of pub grub. Meant to be cutting back on eating out but a trip to the local Harvester might be in order as it's relatively cheap.Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42

Yes to compensation but after a year of taxis to and from medical appointments that was all gone :mad::mad:
Today I am staying in and hopefully tonight Dr Dragon will light a fire, meanwhile I will browse the net until 11 (then two minutes silence) and then crochet this afternoon
(see staying warm and dry!, oh and getting a NSD as well
)

How annoying! Life can be so unfair at times but you seem to be a positive person which is good.
Two minute silence observed and now a survey to fill out while I wait for my sofa delivery and my boiler engineer. A fire sounds lovely, especially when you have no hot water and heating! Lol. I have a gas fire which is nice but I miss the proper open fire at my folks' house with logs burning away.Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42

Yep two minutes observed here (cars outside stopped, which was nice) and yes this is a proper wood (or coal) fire!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

It felt weird being silent on my own although I'm always silent on my own if you see what I mean? I'm usually in a place with lots of people on 11/11 but today I'm tucked up in bed feeling sleepy as didn't sleep a wink but scared to doze now because of the people calling here today.
I am now insanely jealous of you and your log fire! Fancy some company? I can bring tea? Lol.Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42

You are welcome (you will have to lay the fire when you arrive though)

Morning Marty,
I did my two minutes silence on my own too & as always had a few tears. I was at Sainsbugs first thing & bought a fab poppy shopping bag so proudly carried the shopping out in that.
I'll be straight with you & say that if I couldn't shove the mattress etc on a hot wash ... then I'd probably get rid of it as I just couldn't bear the smell of cat doo.
Sorry, that probably doesn't help much, have you asked the lovely peeps over on the Old Style board, they have tips for almost every eventuality.
Hope everything / one turns up as planned
