Motability - do you get money back after so many weeks?

Was chatting to someone today who said that if you get a car on Motability and it works out to be less than the HRMC then you get some money back every 13 weeks?
Is this true?

There are a few cars on motability that are less than HRM.
I'm unsure exactly how the difference is paid to you though.0 -
Its only a couple of quid though.
Mobility cars are an expensive way of getting a car unless you need major adaptations.0 -

Just a quick question, what are the cheaper alternatives? I am unaware of any, but if you know, it could/might help a lot of people.0 -

I have hand controls (push/pull for accelerate and brake along with a steering wheel ball) and when I had an accident, I was given a hire car with a Lynx system for the push/pull and a seperate steering wheel ball. It isn't fixed like my actual Motability car has and does block the pedals which my Motability ones do not. It can however be unscrewed in about 30 seconds (if you can/have access to someone to reach the pedals and unscrew the plates on the pedals). This system costs about £250 when I asked the installer, of course the price may have gone up since then. The ball may not cost much, I really do not know. The good thing about this system is it allows you to transfer it from car to car, so if your second hand car clonks out and you buy another, the system will fit that car.
It is an option of course and I'm unsure if you are aware of it, hence the post. Maybe if you are, someone else reading this isn't, so might help someone, never know!0 -
I think the Nissan Note works out to be about £3 a week less than the HRMC.0

I have had lynx for around 6 years now and thay have been on many cars in that time and so they are well worth the price for the freedom they offer, my car has fixed hand controls but you never know when you may need to drive another auto eg. hoilday hire cars.
My spare steering pin was about £15 but you should just take the mobility one off your car at the end of the contract period as the hand controls/pin are yours and you can remove them (at your expense and I have sold my old sets before, not for much but its money for nothing really if you have someone who can whip the controls off)

The shortfall is up to around 6 pounds a week - for
Kia Picanto 1.0 Picanto 1 5dr.
For some people, 6 quid a week is a large slice of their disposable income, so is not something to ignore.0 -

Automatics are always more expensive with Motability. The Note with automatic is now at full rate (like you are paying now), but no upfront costs. Quite a range of trims as well so if the prices are the same when you change, you won't get a bottom spec one next time, which is obviously good news! :j0 -
People whom say motobility is expensive have no clue
If you go into a dealer and get A BRAND NEW 14K CAR over 3 years , maintenance, insurance, road tax, all repairs including tyres, oil top ups, services, bulbs, and get change out of £200 then let me know.
Theyre talking bull.0
