Orange san francisco unlock?

Hi there

I have an Orange San Francisco phone that I would like to unlock, now I am not a techie and was wondering if there is a simple way to get this unlocked.

I came across a link sometime ago which involved just putting the IMEI nos - is that safe option?

Also, will the unlock version work on 3 mobile or GiffGaff?

Thanks,

There is a lot of firmware out there for this phone, Android 2.2, 2.3 etc, various custom versions if you want to experiment its all out there!

Tricky bit is that for each release you will find some that think its brilliant and others that think its unstable making it difficult to assess.

I chose not to be too ambitious and after rooting put on what is known as Swedish Spring RLS5 Android 2.2. which is a fairly plain install based on an 'official' version. After extensive use I am happy to stick my neck out and say I have not had any proplems or noted any bugs in it. Its a useful upgrade from the standard Android 2.1 and removes all the Orange branding and horrible customisation. Being rooted means it retains a high level of control over it.

Following this guide to the letter was foolproof for me for doing everything to get a great bargain android 2.2 phone.
