Hi, I was looking for a bit of advice if anyone can help/
Basically I took a loan out with GE money and were sold the ppi by cardiff pinnacle. My wife and I settled the loan in 2007 and the my wifes ppi was cancelled when the loan was settled. However I was informed today that my ppi expired last december!!!
I received a letter saying that the ppi was not sold by GE money and to contact the insurance provider and this was their final response!
I called GE money and they advised that the claim for ppi would be through loans.co.uk as they were the ones that we 1st applied to for the finance and they were the ones that sent us the documentation. They then forwarded this to GE money who sold us the loan but cardiff pinaccle sold us the ppi? no wonder im confused!!!
Any help as to who to contact now regarding claiming back my ppi?
The GE money letter said to complain to 'priority one mbna'?
Thanks
Mark

Afraid that I do not have the paperwork, but I called GE customer relations today and they said that the underwriters for the ppi insurance were cardiff pinnacle. I was thinking of just writing to the FOS.0 -
hi portoboy i give you cardiff pinnacle address and write to them0

Do you think that I should just go to FOS?0 -
You need to write to Loans.co.uk at
Stansfield House
Chester Business Park
Wrexham Road
Chester
Cheshire
CH4 9FB
Keep a copy of your letter and proof of posting (free from the Post Office) or fax it to 01244 672 190 (and keep the fax receipt).0 -

Hi, yeah the ppi was through cardiff pinaccle but GE money have just said that as the loan was initially through loans.co.uk then I would have to contact them but they sent our details to GE money and they provided the loan and they paid for ppi, confused !!!
My wifes ppi ended when loan was settled back in 2007 but for some reason mines ended last year, someones at it!!!
Also on the final letter from GE Money they have said to contact
Priority One
MBNA ??
Phase 3 Chester Business Park
Wrexham Road
Chester
CH4 9SB
Again all very confusing!!!! as it says MBNA, nothing about loans.co.uk or cardiff pinnacle0 -

Getting the right royal run around!!
Ge money have said that my loan was closed on the 17/12/2007, when my new finance provider paid them the balance in october 2007!!, I spoke to GE and they said that they had sent the final response and that was that:mad:.
So I called customer relations at cardiff pinnacle and they said that they issued 3 refund cheques for ppi.
1st one 24/10/2007 for £1032.00
2nd one 10/12/2007 for £928.88
3rd one 30/04/2008 for £825.60.
Ge money have said that they never received these cheques. So I contacted cardiff pinnacle again and they have said that they have definately sent them. So I called GE again and they have said that as the final response has been sent that is that!!! Dont think so.
We were never informed that at the time of clearing the GE balance that the ppi would still run:eek::eek:.
I insisted to ge money that they should send these cheques to me as it is our money, they said no the account is closed and if not happy write to loans.co.uk because thats who we initially applied to. All we did with them was to apply to them for a loan and they forwarded our details to GE who then contacted us, So why blame them, they got nothing from it!!!
So I am in a triangle with Cradiff pinnacle, GE money, Loans.co.uk.
I am losing my will to live at this rate.
Any body got any ideas of my next course of action.
Cardiff pinnacle said that they would contact their finance team and see if the cheques were cashed.
Ge money after much debate said that they would look into this matter and receive a letter in due course and to stop calling!!!0 -
There seems to be two problems here from what I can make out:
1 Are you claiming that the ppi was mis-sold in the first place? If so, your claim is against the firm who actually sold it to you. I would expect that not to be GE. From your description, GE only provided you with the loan money and, if it was not they who then arranged you to be in touch with Pinnacle, it must have been Loans.co.uk
You need to establish whether Loans.co.uk presented you with a ppi deal or did they just tell you that Pinnacle would be the people to speak to about ppi. If Loans did not get involved in the actual sale of the ppi other than to refer you to Pinnacle, then Pinnacle would be classed as the sellers and it is they you need to go after. If Loans arranged it all, then they are the sellers and are liable.
Note : You need to be sure that it was mis-selling in the first place - there is a checklist on this website to go through to establish whether you have a case for mis-selling. Not all ppi deals have been mis-sold.
2. I can't work out from the posts above whether you are saying that you have overpaid the loan or whether you have been paying for ppi after you cleared the loan.
If you have overpaid the loan you need to speak to GE who will have all the records.
If you are saying that you continued paying ppi after the loan had been paid up and the premiums were being drawn from you by Pinnacle, then that is between you and Pinnacle. GE would have no knowledge of the details of your contract with Pinnacle if it was not they who sold it to you.
If you repaid the loan early and did not advise Pinnacle that you had done so, then how can Pinnacle know that they should stop drawing the premiums? You needed to have told them and you should have withdrawn the DD mandate. There are differing views on whether you can claim back premiums in this type of case (as each one's circumstances is different) but I think you may have some difficulty in so doing because, until you tell them otherwise, the insurance company perceives itself to be at risk, even if it isn't.0
