Even if you think this does not apply to you just remember anyone can fall ill and anyone can have an accident.

Oh no not another petition to try to reverse the cuts to benefits.
Is it just me that lives in the real world and sees the need for these cuts?0 -
All these people that campaign for this group or that group to be exempt from cuts never seem to put forward a viable alternative set of cuts.
It is not a case of don't cut, we must. We as country do not have the money to carry on funding all things at the current level. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You have posted this in the wrong place - it should be in discussion Time.0

Unfortunately, I think even if the petition gets the required 100 thousand signatures (unlikely) it will just be easily answered and brushed to one side.
Its way to vague, and literally leaves itself open to be answered with the usual "we are monitoring the situation, we are conducting yearly reviews, we are doing impact assessments, the truly ill will be looked after etc etc etc yawn etc."[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

So explain, why the 'cuts' (as in cuts to what people end up with on benefits) are actually costing the government more than they would normally spend?
Explain how 20 million a year IB fraud, justified 100 million a year for ATOS to combat the 20 million? And dont forget the 90 or so million for appeals.
Explain how universal credit is already costing several BILLION pounds?
Explain how they want to move people from IB to JSA, which would increase costs for assessments, tribunals, and require extra staff, extra premises, extra cost to NHS and also massive costs for training/placements (100 pound per person say on top of what they would normally be shelling out + cost for advisors+bigger premises for all these people to sign on etc)[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Sorry, I have neither the economic and financial knowledge nor the time to dissect government finances in sufficient depth to even begin to answer those sorts of questions and TBH neither do the majority of posters on these forums. So explain, why the 'cuts' (as in cuts to what people end up with on benefits) are actually costing the government more than they would normally spend?

economists are divided on the question of cuts. They disagree on the size of cuts required, and on the appropriate speed. They disagree on whether cuts will help the economy. It's entirely possible the cuts to disability benefits aren't necessary.0 -

But you can state with such certainty that the cuts are required, and will be beneficial???[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

When governments are looking for extra ways to raise revenue to fund current commitments I think it indicates that something needs to be done.
Or shall we join the Wonga camp and Greece and keep borrowing to spend our way out? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Take no notice of the trolls, its always tough on here, they always have problems themselves and often multiple personalities. Good to see cit-k and clemmatis keeping facts in the discussion, so much better than bar-room hearsay.
Good luck Voynich with your campaigning and hard work.
Sadly, some folk will never appreciate what we have until its gone, and suddenly they need help, and it's no longer there.
Its costing so much to frame the sick and disabled as fraudulent, one wonders who is benefiting?
Best keep an eye on Board Directorships in future.0
