Firebelly FB question

I know there are a few helpful retailers in this forum, and wonder if one of them could help me. I am looking at replacing the fire rope which secures the glass on my Firebelly FB stove, but I dont know what diameter to buy. I did call firebelly, but they told me it is 12MM, which it certanly isnt. Will a couple of mm out matter, or can I just estimate it? (Thinking around 6mm)

Hi Dave,

First of all I do not own a FB stove, however, I would tend to purchase what firebelly recommend. I very recently changed rope seals on my villager stove, which are actually 12mm dia, remember most rope seals will sit in a groove/radious and, may not look anything like 12mm, after initial fitting of new seals and, after a fews days use, they do compress, not looking like 12mm now!

Thanks for the reply Welda. Reason I am cautious about following their advice is because I believe they have got mixed up between the rope sealing the glass, and the rope on the door. Its that much of a difference, that I think the glass rope is probably 6mm (I have tried ten mm, and it is far too big, so I cant see how it would be 12mm.)

Ah ok, I understand now, glass to door seals are a gasket type makeup for my stove, comes in one piece for each glass panel, follows door profile, simple straight forward fit.

Bell them again, hopefully you will hear a new voic who knows what dia goes where?
