Oh come on now, the same amounts of money were going into your account as previously, you knew as you were working you shouldn't have been getting them but chose to spend the money anyway.
Not very bright
I was getting other benefits, i thought they were connected and/or its only now im self employed that i check my bank statements religiously... When i was working fulltime i was so flush with cash i didnt..
[ I honestly cant remember what my thoughts on the matter were 2 years ago, but i do know it wasnt wooo free £50 a week, when i was earning 7x that from my wages. ]
Secondly, what are you doing in this topic, you, shegirl and fiver29? other than trolling me.. and 1up'ing each other for your troll posts.
Because you're not giving me advice are you? That's all ive asked for and im still waiting for any useful input from any of you.
You've said your piece. Thanks.
[no need to reply back to tell me your purpose in this thread, ive worked it out already - unless you actually have some useful advice?]

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Do you know the date the benefits have been paid from when they,in fact, shouldn't have been? Did you go in to start claiming benefits after you lost the first job?If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0

I supposed its relevant so i'll bite...
I had been claiming since before 2009 - not sure how far back it goes but i had been in and out of hospital due to both my lungs collapsing and i had to have plenty surgeries to get it all fixed... I was in there for about a year and nearing the end of it i remember signing some forms which were about the benefits.. This was 2008 maybe. When i came out i was recovering for about a year as well all the while i was on benefits.
Then in october 2009, i got the placement through the jobcentre... this is when the benefits should have stopped...
then i left there in feb 2010 and went self employed... I queried the payments back then at some point but i have no record of the phone conversation so its not provable i guess.
Finally the last time i queried it was about 6months ago, when someone on the line actually managed to identify it as payment i shouldnt be receiving... At which point i asked them to stop it and they told me they'd send me a recovery/repayment letter but: "Dont worry since its our fault you shouldnt havent to pay anything".
and that i should send off a pre-emptive appeal letter just incase...
..Which got sent back immediately because the retards were like Dooowwww we havent sent you the recovery letter yet.
and i said: "yes, thats why it says pre-emptive, in the appeal letter"0 -
What advice can you expect other than you've been receiving benefits to which you're not entitled and now you need to pay them back? Anything else would be incorrect advice.0

Insulting staff who are only doing their jobs isn't going to make you any friends or get you any sympathy.0 -
If it was all worded so well as yours it wouldnt be a problem.
Its when people write in an accusatory tone or reply condescendingly to someone who's merely here for a little help and or advice and has received a bill for £3000 today, that i find hard to swallow. I mean is it too much to expect a little empathy?
I just think its a bit cowardly to revel in someones misfortune - and i know for a fact these people wouldnt do this in the real world.. But it is in the forum rules, i'm not asking for special treatment.
Anyway, You'll see i have no problem with people who present the information as you have.

and so the fact i was no longer sending in sick notes which entitled me to the benefit...
or going down to the job centre fortnightly to see my advisor to confirm my still-unable-to-work status
has no bearing on this what-so-ever...
..I appreciate you lot explaining its my fault, i just feel its bad that my reward for enquiring about the payments is a bill.
And yes, i did notice the payments.. i enquired as to what they were in 2009, got passed around through different jobcentre departments and nobody could explain what they were... So nothing came of it. All i had was the numbering on my bank statements and nobody on the phone was very helpful.
This is my following up on it, when i queried it back in June.
But at the same time i was on (at one point) Income support, incapacity benefit and disability living allowance.. i think
and they're not clearly labelled on your bank statements, so i dont understand how anyone could think its incomprehensable to not know what every single statement is on your bank statements...
...Not to mention when you're doing 40 hours a week full time, coming home to pour over bank statements is not my idea of a fun friday night..
But glad you all read the part where i asked for positive advice, and thanks for all your positive advice. Appreciated.
You cant assume that everyone knows what you are doing. Different departments deal with different things and they are sometimes quite slow in dealing with each other and claimants have to wait until they all catch up with each other.
You are under agreement to tell the DWP of any changes, regardless of who else you think might tell them too. You cant rely on that.
Also to state that you never noticed getting benefits for all this time sounds far fetched. They will not believe that for one minute.
Instead of thinking that you should be rewarded and being disgruntled because you arent being you should concentrate your efforts in paying the debt back and warning others of claiming benefits they are not entitled to.0
