Do most of the time, they pass the house down to the children or have they already sold it?

Bit of a strange question, but depends on a number of things.
Some elderly people go into care, and their homes are sold to fund that.
If they have made a will, they could leave the house (and its inherent value) to the local cats home!
Have you a particular scenario in mind?0 -
            Have they made a will?0

It is a strange question, it also doenst make a lot of sense (when you say 'have they sold it'make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Are you asking, what happens to the assets of someone who dies without making a will?.0

not really, just like what percentage of parents will give their house to their childrenThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It depends on how the property is owned. Under some circumstances the surviving spouse automatically inherits the other's share upon death.
If there is no will and there is no surviving spouse there is a formula to calculate who inherits what percentage.0 -

Your question doesn't make a great deal of sense to be honest. Are you looking for the percentage of parents (whether or not they had property to leave) that leave property to their children or the percentage of parents that leave property to their children only starting with the parents who owned property? Or some other permutation? Or are you looking for the odds that you yourself will be left property? Because that doesn't have a lot to do with the percentages.
Of course if you just want a quick answer then it's 15%.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
It's unlikely to be something that's researched by the National Statistics Office, I'd suggest.....
You're just looking for the proportion, out of the total number, of parents who leave their house to their children, instead of disposing of it by other means?0
