in Credit cards
Hi,
I've got a Capital One Classic credit card since July, and I've been awarded £200 credit limit (which I think is the minimum, and I've got it basically because I have a very short credit history in the UK).
I'd like to get an increase on my credit limit, but they say they automatically review profiles and they sometimes increase your credit limit.
Do you know if that's the only way? And do you know usually after how much you are eligible for a credit increase? I pay by direct debit the whole statement each month, my average use in 1 month is £50 approx (because I can't use that credit card for things like buying flights, as the credit limit is so low!).
Thanks!

I think you need to be using the card for more or larger purchases. For example pay all your shopping for food etc... If you use 75% or more of your credit limit each month (and pay off in full) I would expect your limit to increase within 6 months. You will get a letter if your credit limit is going to increase. Those subprime cards rarely if ever let you increase the credit limit yourself. It is generally an automated service based on computer review not request. They are usually reviewed on a 3-4 months basis.Don't thank me, thank my post :T

How long have you had the card? Normally they review your account after the first three months and increase your limit. If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0

I opened it late July. Yeah I was planning of using it a bit more (for example to buy my Oyster travelcard...), but I can't use it for bigger purchases...0

I had one of these cards for 3 years and never got an increase. I paid my balance in full every month but they refused up up my credit limit. I ended up cancelling and reapplying for another card.0

capital one are fussy about increases, they wont also increase on request either for some reason.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

just got a increase from £300 to £900 after 3 years0 -
Just got an increase from £1600 to £2200 after several years of managing my credit badly, (but just mananging not to default on this card), followed by 2 and a half years of managing it impeccably.
The naive part of me thinks - how nice - they are rewarding my fiscal behaviour and responsibility.
The more cynical amongst you may think - we've had shedloads of interest from her in the past and Christmas is coming . . .DF0 -

Do they even review account's? I bet they don't review them. Reviewing and increasing was a thing of the past. Don't think Cap One are silly enough to review cards they know they are NOT going to increase anyway.0 -
Capital One are increasing my limit by 50% on the 19th November. Got the letter through last month.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
