What would say is better value? An Iphone or android for £13.50/month on O2?

Android:
Samsung Galaxy Ace on O2 (free on 24 mnth contract)

Iphone:
Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB Black Refurb on O2 (free on 24 mnth contract)

Iphone looks cool!

Come on, it's not rocket surgery is it?

But why are they better value.... they are the same price in the example I gave, so isn't it a 'no brainer' to go with the snazy iphone, even if it is old?? :D

well the better value is obvious because for the same price you're getting a new phone versus a used one.

They look fairly even, except the iphone *was* about 2.5 times more expensive. I know its 2nd hand but doesn't that count for something?

Also, I read that iphones make use of data allowance more efficiently and therefore you can get away with a cheaper lower data contract - make sense? Or still think I should stick to newer androids?

    Thnaks all.

It does considering that even new ones have 1 year warranty against Samsung's 2. Refub is likely to have 6 months only. All the extra you pay for it is for having a 'snazzy' and 'cool' toy.

Not much. I think what you read was about Blackberries, not iPhones that are known to be the most data-hungry phones.

    Up to you really.

i went from a android to iphone , where as the android was good, i want a good "package" , and went for the iphone as that has a better package on the whole

A simple question, Will the samsung or any other android be worth as much as a 3gs in the same time frame ? i think not !!

    Android prices drop fast !!!!

    No, search for:

    iphone less data use

and it seems to show lower useage in several reviews.

Am not sure now. I thought an expensive (refurb) iphone was good value compared to a new but low end android. Confused :p

What I see is for just released 4s, not 3gs. And this seems to be the main point that finally they have done something to cut the amount of data being used by their handsets.
I am no expert; probably this is a feature of the new OC and will affect older phones as well.

OK, looking at orange PAYG now. Seems ok as I can take a break from paying if I choose.

Maybe I'll just stick with Tesco's good ol 4p and text, 8p minute deal and forget the internet on my phone :)
