Current supplier blocking switch
Comments
-
Has your housemate already been living there before you moved in? Suppliers would just add you to an existing account in this case and any debt owed by your housemate would need to be paid.0

Your not telling us something here, is an account in your name with a zero balance yes or no? On the objection reason it will of been sent in a letter to you. Have you provided them with proof of move in?
Yes, all that was sorted, the account is in my name now, I provided final meter readings and asked for a final bill, when i didn't receive it I got in touch again they denied I had given them the readings, so I gave them readings again, they sent a final bill which was calculated incorrectly when I finally got them to send a corrected bill I paid it and again attempted to switch and have been told that they are blocking it again.0 -
Jalexa, Surely both are the same thing - the poster started the thread in November when they had "just" moved. It's now February - so now more than 2 months ago.
Why some on this forum think it's reasonable to treat others like they are on trial and / or must be lying or hiding something escapes me. Anybody would think they worked for the energy companies.
Personally I'd put the complaint in writing and demand a written explanation for trheir actions not faff around on the phone / hold for ever0 -
OP, you don't ask for a final bill when you want to move. You simply apply to the new supplier and they will sort out the change over. The new supplier will ask for opening meter readings and they will also give those to the old supplier as a final reading. If you are being blocked from moving supplier they must give you a reason so what reason do they give?0

It sounds as though there is a debt or something on the account, as previous poster stated you dont ask them to send you a final bill and THEN try to change, Afinal bill will be generated by the supplier when your new supplier takes over, and have provided the reading that you have given. They wouldnt just block you from leaving for no reason whatsoever, and they would send a letter to you stating as to why they have not let you leave.0

Why do you think it is "reasonable" to pass judgement on posters trying to be helpful?0 -
I am happy to clarify I didn't spot the date of the earlier post when I made that comment.
Presumably you don't work for an energy company (and BTW neither do I), but perhaps if you did you would realise that in order to offer meaningful advice certain unexplained "matters of fact" needed to be teased out (witness most posts in the thread).
Why do you think it is "reasonable" to pass judgement on posters trying to be helpful?
You are correct, I don't work for an energy company.
If you mean that you assume I was judging you it is merely that your assumption! I did not in fact say that I referred to your post (in that context) - or even this thread alone - but merely pointed out something which I assumed you to have missed before going onto refer to a "tone" which I believe appears persistently on this forum.
You may or may not agree with me that the following post to yours seems quite accusatory but either way having re read it that still remains my view.0 -
I have friends who do, and this op isnt telling us something. Although if a read was given it would be input and billed straight away, only after a balnce is outstanding 28 days can they object. The other reason could be that he hasnt re-applied to the other supplier after the objection was placedDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

According to Ofwat, debt is not a valid reason to block a transfer, I've now requested the transfer 3 times and everytime they have told me it would go through and for the third time I've been told by my new supplier that it was blocked.0 -
